Munya Chawawa has given his brilliant spin on the new pandemic restrictions as London and the South East enter tier four.
The new, tightened rules were announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday ahead of the festive period, amid concerns about the new strain of Covid-19 prevalent in the South East.
The internet personality has been super quick off the mark to address current issues with his spoof songs and raps, and of course he had to turn his attention to the latest development.
His new offering, called Let Me Into Tier 2, riffs on singer Mario’s 2004 track Let Me Love You.
It sees the comedian singing and dancing around his flat pleading for his area to take on the more eased Covid restrictions ‘with Hull and Leeds’.
He also jokes that he is stuck indoors playing Sudoku and ‘pulling on my cracker’.
‘Boris I just don’t get it, do you enjoy being a jerk?’ he sings, ‘I didn’t buy my favourite perfume, to be on Zoom in a shirt.’
However the viral comedy star confessed that he has been left ‘exhausted’ by the work put in to get his videos out in a timely fashion throughout 2020, and this latest video will likely be his final offering of the year.
He wrote on Twitter: ‘Last sketch of 2020; I’m absolutely exhausted and I don’t have any more dad moves to give.
‘This is my OOO Twitter – thank you for being so good to me.’
It rounds off a good year for Munya professionally, having signed to Atlantic Records in November and landed his first writing gig on Charlie Brooker’s Death To 2020.
His sketches from this year have included a parody of Justin Timberlake’s Rock Your Body about the coronavirus vaccine, and a response to the backlash over Sainsbury’s featuring a black family in its Christmas advert.
