If there’s one thing we can count on during the coronavirus pandemic, it’s Munya Chawawa’s epic parodies of the government’s announcements – and he’s not disappointed us following the third lockdown being announced.
The comedian shared his latest video, telling his followers: ‘Here we go again…lockdown 3. New tune from ‘T-Strain’ – Bartender’.
The clever track is a parody of T-Pain’s 2007 hit Bartender in which Munya has reimagined the lyrics to reflect the current situation in the UK.
He sings: ‘Yeah, Boris Johnson was on TV last night and he locked the UK up. Heavenly father I need you, like I’m singing D-Dubz.
‘Now Valentine’s Day is cancelled, I’ll never find love. I can’t get freaky on Teams. *Sexually frustrated falsetto*.
‘Sittin’ in watching Bridgerton, I can’t wait to be free. Maybe I should fly to Dubai, Heathrow Terminal 3. 2021 about to get cancelled like GCSEs, still paying for tuition fees.’
It comes after the Prime Minister announced on Monday evening that the UK would be entering a national lockdown to try and get the rising levels of coronavirus infections under control.
Despite the ongoing restrictions and updates on the situation, Munya has kept fans entertained with his humorous takes on the news.
His dedication has paid off as he also recently signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records to release some of his new material.
Munya wrote in November: ‘I’ve signed to Atlantic Records! Two years of sketches, one Fire in the Booth and a few middle class bars later and here we are!
‘Thank you for supporting my parodies & sharing my sketches. I’m so grateful and deffo cracking open a Shloer tonight.’
One of his character, Unknown P – the UK’s first posh drill artist – also released a track called Piers Morgan, which left the broadcaster ‘flattered’, even though he admitted he hadn’t heard of Munya before its release.
