Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs has stated that if awarded a knighthood, he would decline it, as would his bandmate Liam Gallagher.
On Monday, Bonehead, widely known as Oasis’ rhythm guitarist, stated that Noel Gallagher should be considered for the royal accolade.
The artist, 57, made it clear that he is not ‘anti-royal,’ but just ‘wouldn’t do it’.
During a conversation with DJ Toby Tarrant on Radio X over the Bank Holiday weekend, Bonehead observed, ‘Sir Bonehead has a great ring to it.’
‘Probably got a good ring to it, but no I wouldn’t take it,’ Bonehead replied, adding: ‘Not that I’m anti-royal or anti-this, no I just wouldn’t do it. Doesn’t even sound right, does it?’
He went on: ‘I wouldn’t have it and I don’t think Liam [Gallagher] would have it. Bet Noel would, wouldn’t he? He’d have to be with the sirs.’
Speaking to NME last year, Liam, 50, suggested he wasn’t totally against being knighted, but said he wasn’t keen on the idea of ‘going to Buckingham Palace and bending down’.
‘Unless they delivered it to my door through the letterbox, like the Royal Mail should do, I’m certainly not going there and bending down,’ he quipped.
