Paloma Faith has been booked and busy this year with work commitments on The Voice Kids and recording her new album.
It has all come during the singer’s pregnancy, which has been deemed high-risk, as she expects her second child with boyfriend Leyman Lahcine.
For Paloma, cutting back on the workload isn’t as easy as it sounds.
During a playback of her stunning new album Infinite Things, the Only Love Can Hurt Like This singer explained: ‘I don’t know, I sort of go “I want to do it” in my head and then figure the rest out later.
‘When I look back on it I just think it is mad. I’ve been quite open about the fact that I am high-risk pregnancy but I started to realise that I’m high-risk pregnancy because I can’t sit down.’
She continued of her work ethic: ‘It’s sort of a self-imposed high-risk pregnancy because I had a premature baby last time and it was because I did too much work and now I’m doing the same again.
‘I don’t really know how not to do it.’

Pregnancy diary. This week heartburn, indigestion, sciatica that paralyses me, water retention, (I don’t recognise my feet and hands), two different UTIs and loads of kicking! This baby better be a nice person at the end of it all haha! That’s all you can hope for! . . Photo: @elljmorgan . . . #palomafaith #ivfjourney #pregnancy #womenshealth #pregnancydiary #workingmum
Paloma, 39, is so committed to her art that she decided to keep her pregnancy secret in the early stages so she could shoot the music video for her latest single, Gold, without a hitch.
When presenter Miquita Oliver asked if Paloma was pregnant during the scene where she’s swinging on a digger, the musician revealed: ‘Yeah I was. I hadn’t announced it yet because I was trying to conceal it.
‘A couple of people knew because I was about 12 weeks pregnant and I wanted to have a few scans and tests first before I said anything in case anything went wrong.’
She added: ‘It was that day when it was a 38 degree heatwave. People kept going, you’re such a powerhouse, I went no it’s insane!’
Paloma and her partner Leyman, who are already parents to a three-year-old daughter, have been together since 2013.
The singer said proudly: ‘He’s so lovely.’
Addressing her refreshingly honest comments about relationships and monogamy, Paloma explained: ‘Actually I think we’re more likely to last because we do say things like that.
‘Monster [a track on her album] is a bit about having a public-facing persona and a private person.’
