Paramore’s Hayley Williams has made the band’s stance on homophobia clear in a passionate post.
The singer appeared to hint that the band’s zero-tolerance against discrimination towards members of the LGBTQ community had been a reason why some former members parted ways with the pop-rock band.
Former band member Josh Farro became a trending topic this week after he allegedly shared a Facebook post which saw him call homosexuality a ‘perversion’.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Hayley tweeted: ‘There’s a reason there are only 3 people left in Paramore. Surprise, haters, it ain’t cause of me.
‘Paramore do not condone religiously/politically dogmatic beliefs which leave our LGBTQ+ friends, fans, & family feeling abandoned and hopeless.’
The 31-year-old continued: ‘If that doesn’t jive with you, well, feel free to go to where all past members of Paramore have gone which is literally anywhere else but Paramore.’
The Ain’t It Fun hitmaker then addressed Paramore’s LGBTQ+ family and sent a special shoutout to Brian J O’Connor, the creative director of the singer’s hair dye company Good Dye Young.
The singer stated: ‘You are full of love and you are loved.’
Josh Farro and his brother Zac famously left the band in 2010, with Zac rejoining in 2017. The current Paramore lineup is Williams, Zac Farro and Taylor York.
