Peter Andre hits back at Lauren Goodger for ‘careless’ comments about refusing coronavirus vaccine and masks

Peter Andre has spoken out about stars including Lauren Goodger and their ‘careless’ comments about the coronavirus vaccine and his fears that it could be detrimental to other people’s health.

The singer, 47, who recently had coronavirus himself, shared his worry that comments from celebrities like Lauren, 34, could influence people not to wear masks or get the coronavirus vaccine when they are offered it.

He wrote in his New! Magazine column: ‘Lauren Goodger is the latest person to say she won’t get the coronavirus vaccine and has likened the virus to having a cold. She’s also said she doesn’t wear a mask.

‘I don’t have anything against anyone who wants to express their views, unless what they say can be detrimental to other people’s health.

‘Personally, I think it’s a careless thing to say. It’s just the wrong message. I know at least two people who have been in a bad way with coronavirus and have been on oxygen for a while. It’s no joke.’

Lauren had previously shared her thoughts on the vaccine, claiming she was ‘more scared of it than the virus’.

Dr June Raine, the chief executive of the UK’s MHRA, said there ‘should be no doubt whatever that this is a very safe and highly effective vaccine’.

She added: ‘I would really like to emphasise that the highest standards of scrutiny, of safety and of effectiveness and quality have been met – international standards. And so there should be real confidence in the rigour of our approval.

‘More than that, our Commission on Human Medicines has scrutinised every piece of data too, so there should be no doubt whatever that this is a very safe and highly effective vaccine.

‘It will help us turn the corner. There’s really not one of us who hasn’t been affected by this pandemic, and our organisation, like every other, has been completely focused on doing our job to be able to help defeat this terrible disease.’

Peter recently tested positive for coronavirus, revealing that he had been left ‘incredibly achy’ and with a cough despite not having all of the symptoms.

He added: ‘One thing I will say with this virus. It makes you want to sleep, sleep, sleep.’
