Peter Andre appears to be making the move from music legend to movie star, and the trailer for his next project is fascinating if a bit perplexing.
Last Respects, his latest short film, is a dark comedy set in 1979, and he plays an Australian doctor.
He spent much of his youth in Australia, so he has lots of material for the former, and his wife Emily Andre, 33, is a doctor. However, after viewing the teaser, we doubt the character was inspired in any way by her!
Introducing the teaser he wrote: ‘❗️ WARNING ❗️ violence and bad language so block your kids’ ears. First look at the trailer for the brand new award-winning short film Last Respects.’
The trailer starts out pretty randomly with a quote from French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre. The words ‘one lives one’s death, one dies one’s life’ emerge ominously on the screen.
Then we see a man on a ventilator and three tough-looking men making threats and emptying their guts around the death bed.
At this moment, we meet Peter’s character, who is dressed in a black wig that resembles Shaggy from Scooby Doo.
He tells the now-fearful men: ‘That’s right, I have your grubby full-on confessions,’ while waving around a phone.
Things quickly escalate as suddenly he’s holding a giant knife, and telling the men to ‘turn around and face the f*****g window.’
His forceful voice is a vast cry from the gently crooned Mysterious Girl.
Later in the scene, Peter, who is simply referred to in the credits as “the doctor,” is brandishing a revolver.
This character is clearly not your typical NHS worker.
His supporters expressed their support in the comments area, however others were taken aback by the expletives and haircut.
One wrote: ‘OMG you made me jump Peter when you shouted and swore! Great acting as that is so unlike you in real life. Best of luck with the film.’
‘You sound great but why did they make you wear an odd looking wig?! Xx,’ enquired another.
Of course, it’s in the 70s.
He even had a celebrity supporter – former Westlife singer Brian McFadden wrote: ‘Great stuff pal. Looks like a blast.’
Pete previously told The Sun: ’I think people are going to be very, very shocked.
‘They’re going to watch this film and be like, “wow”, because he’s not expected to act in the way that he acts.’
Pete has been progressively increasing his acting resume, and one of his most recent films was The Other Foot.
The plot revolved around bigoted Billy, who one day wakes up as a black guy.
Pete plays his racist friend, and can be heard saying in the trailer: ‘All of yous, bloody scum.’
He also appeared in SnapCatch alongside his son Junior Andre, a film about two teens looking for love online.
