Piers Morgan’s elderly parents have had the coronavirus vaccine after the battling the virus last year.
The Good Morning Britain presenter told his followers on Twitter he is ‘happy’ mum Gabrielle and stepfather Glynne have had the jab.
He shared the latest figures from the vaccine rollout in the UK adding that his parents are now among the latest to get it.
‘BREAKING: Another 489,934 Covid vaccines were administered in the UK yesterday…the 2nd highest daily total to date. (sic)’ he tweeted.
‘Brilliant news… and I’m even happier that today’s figure will include my parents who got jabbed this morning. Keep up the great work.’
It comes after the TV star revealed in November that Gabrielle and Glynne had been diagnosed with Covid-19.
They have since recovered but Piers said it was ‘a scary time’ and urged others to be more considerate during lockdown.
He said on the ITV daytime show: ‘I’d like to say something to my parents, they are both battling Covid and have been for two weeks and it’s a scary thing for a family.
‘When your elderly parents are fighting it, they are both in their mid to late 70s, and they got it two weeks ago from someone in their bubble, and they had to go out and they were very sensible but got the virus, and then bang it was like dominoes.’
The Life Stories host added that Glynne had lost his sense of taste and smell.
Piers himself had a coronavirus scare last year after a ‘mild symptom’.
After taking time off from Good Morning Britain he was tested negative.
