Piers Morgan led the celebratory messages for his ‘long-suffering TV wife’ Susanna Reid, who is marking her 50th birthday today.
No doubt to Susanna’s relief, she isn’t spending the day with her Good Morning Britain co-host so he passed on the birthday wishes from afar.
Alongside a promo shot of them in bed together, Piers wrote in the Instagram post: ‘Happy 50th Birthday to my fabulous, long-suffering TV wife @susannareid100 who when first told I’d been hired to be her @gmb co-host 5yrs ago responded: ‘Are you ****ing joking????!’ Time’s been a great healer.. ??.’
TV presenter Richard Arnold shared a photo of Susanna posing with her birthday cards and cake in the GMB studio as Stevie Wonder’s Happy Birthday song provided the soundtrack.
Taking a break from her day of celebrations, Susanna tweeted: ‘Thank you everyone, for your wonderful birthday messages.’
During Wednesday’s episode of the breakfast show, Susanna left Lorraine Kelly stunned over her turning 50 thanks to her youthful looks.
‘Certain birthday coming tomorrow,’ Piers said, to which Lorraine replied: ‘Honestly, genuinely, I can’t believe tomorrow you [Susanna] are 50, that is ridiculous.’
Piers, 55, joked: ‘I thought she was at least 60.’
Susanna quipped: ‘I’m not a day over 49, until tomorrow… When I’ll be over 49.’
Still not over the presenter’s age, Lorraine continued: ‘It’s crazy isn’t it, you look fantastic!’
Piers did joke that he would be spending the day with Susanna, and later teased: ‘She can only celebrate with people in her bubble.
‘So it will just be me and Susanna sitting outside with a glass of non-alcoholic something, eating kale, happy 50th everyone.’
Coincidentally, Susanna almost shares a birthday with Piers’ real life wife Celia Walden, who turned 48 earlier this week.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
