Piers Morgan has led celebrities reacting as Dominic Cummings left Downing Street ‘for good’.
Boris Johnson’s chief advisor was photographed clutching a cardboard box as he reportedly departed his position this evening.
According to BBC, it was decided for the aide to leave the job immediately after it was previously suggested that he was planning to depart by the end of the year.
Taking to Twitter, Piers shared a photo of the politician’s exit, appearing to make light of the situation.
‘Cheerio cheerio cheerio…,’ the Good Morning Britain host captioned the snap.
Reacting to the news, comedian Kathy Burke simply penned: ‘Good.’
Jacqui Smith suggested there was more to come from the story.
The Strictly Come Dancing star commented: ‘Hmm….there are plenty of other ways out of Downing St.
‘I think we can assume he won’t be taking the opportunity for a period of silent reflection on the things he got wrong.’
Mr Cummings appeared to confirm on Thursday that he was planning to leave his position by the end of 2020.
However, the BBC states it was decided that it was best for him to vacate immediately.
Mr Johnson is said to have asked Sir Edward Lister to take on the role of chief of staff for an interim period.
Piers has called out the Government multiple times during the pandemic for ‘snubbing’ GMB.
He has been vocal over ministers not appearing on the ITV breakfast show to answer questions – keeping a timer on how many days MPs have ‘refused to appear’.
The outspoken star also urged MPs to be interviewed by co-star Kate Garraway, whose husband has been hospitalised since March due to his battle with coronavirus.
‘Okay, don’t come on when I am on,’ he told the Mirror. ‘But to not come on when Kate is presenting. Really?
‘You are going to snub someone whose husband is in a coma from Covid. It’s shameful.’
Susanna Reid insisted the Government at least owed it to Kate to let a minister appear on the show when she is presenting.
‘If there is one member of the team to whom they owe a particular duty to explain policy and answer questions, it would be Kate,’ she added. ‘It’s shocking that they haven’t done that.’
