Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has admitted she ‘mourned the loss’ of her old life after becoming a mother for the first time.
The model is expecting her second child with partner of 11 years Jason Statham, four years after welcoming their son Jack Oscar.
After Jack’s birth in June 2017, Rosie said that she felt like ‘the rug was pulled out from under me’.
Speaking to Porter magazine, the 34-year-old said: ‘For a period after I had my first son, there was a real shift in identity, and a sort of mourning of the loss of your old life, and who you were… I just remember feeling like the rug was pulled out from underneath me.
‘I’d had all these years of being really independent, being able to come and go as I wished, being self-employed to a degree, calling the shots, and then suddenly having [something] that really anchored me to home life.’
The star added: ‘If you’re someone that, like me, attach[ed] a lot of identity to my physicality and the way that I felt and looked, it really took me a long time to come around, but I think once I stepped into the role, embraced it, everything sort of relaxed a little bit. I did start to feel this new sense of life.
‘And now, in my thirties, my confidence is so much [greater] and my ability to make decisions and not second-guess myself is stronger. I genuinely feel like my life is much more well-rounded.’
Pregnant Rosie showed off her bump in a series of snaps for the fashion magazine, cradling her belly in an array of outfits from designers like Bottega Veneta, Givenchy, The Row, Totême and Fendi.
The Mad Max: Fury Road star – who wore a prosthetic belly to play a pregnant character in the action film – confirmed she was pregnant back in August, hiding a snap of her small bump in a carousel of mirror selfies on Instagram.
Rosie and Jason, 54, have been together since 2010, and got engaged in 2016.
The couple relocated from Los Angeles to London during the pandemic, and intend to welcome their second child in the UK.
