Rebel Wilson has taken it upon herself to be our biggest cheerleader and in her latest motivational post, she’s urging fans not to rely on stepping on the scales.
The Pitch Perfect actress has undergone a huge lifestyle overhaul after declaring 2020 her ‘year of health’. It sort her adopt a healthier outlook, with Rebel shedding the pounds to reach her goal weight ahead of her target.
Wanting others to feel as good as she does, Rebel shared some words of wisdom with her followers on her Instagram page and encouraged fans not to get caught up in using scales to monitor their progress.
Instead, she wants us all to practice a little bit of self-love.
Rebel shared a selfie of her posing in a robe in the mirror, where a set of scales could be seen behind her.
She suggested: ‘Rather than step on the scale, look at yourself in the mirror and be like “dammmm girrrrrl… you’re smart and talented and accomplished and perfect just the way you are.” ?’
It comes after Rebel opened up on her weight loss journey and reflected on her own battle with her self-esteem.
‘You guys have seen me in movies and you know me a little bit, and if you’ve struggled like I’ve struggled with emotional eating or over eating, I want you to know it doesn’t mean you’re a bad person or you’re guilty or ashamed, everyone has vices and that might happen to be yours,’ she shared on Instagram.
‘It’s about how you manage it and what you can do to try to replace your unhealthy habits. On the emotional side everyone is different, some people might have triggers in their lives to overeat. I would wear my weight as a barrier so people wouldn’t get close to me or it would be protection in a way because you were bigger. I’d always make jokes because no one’s gonna kidnap a bigger girl.’
Rebel, who said she’s now working on ‘self-love’, explained: ‘I won’t get too dark with it. It’s hard when I talk about the emotional stuff because it’s hard, [but] I wasn’t treating myself with love and respect.
‘Anybody else out there I would treat with love and respect but myself, I probably left myself to last. I just wasn’t valuing myself, and telling myself negative things.’
Comedian Rebel was recently seen on an episode of Ant Middleton’s Straight Talking, where she joined the Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins star for a trip across Mexico.
In the episode, she reflected on a number of tough ordeals she’s had to face within her life, including the time when she was held at gunpoint in Mozambique and one incident where she was sexually harassed by a male co-star.
