Ronan Keating’s four-year-old son ‘on the mend’ after being rushed to hospital

Ronan Keating’s four-year-old son has been discharged after he was rushed to hospital on Wednesday.

The former Boyzone star told fans yesterday that Cooper, who he shares with wife Storm, 39, had been admitted to hospital, and that he and Storm were ‘worried sick’.

Storm has now given an update on Cooper’s condition, and happily announced that he is ‘on the mend’.

The Australian designer shared a picture of her son lying in a hospital bed with a bracelet on his wrist and a wire connected to his thumb as he cuddled a teddy bear.

Storm wrote in the caption: ‘48hrs we are happy to see the back of. Thank you to everyone for your prayers and well wishes – they worked (!) because our little man is on the mend and on the way home too ♥️

‘Huge thanks to all the wonderful staff @chelwestft who were simply amazing 🙌 This mummy is exploding with joy and relief to be bringing @cooper_keating home with daddy.’

Friends sent their well wishes, with Kirsty Gallacher writing: ‘Sending so much love to you all’ and Ashley James writing: ‘Sending you such big hugs.’

Neither Storm nor Ronan specified why Cooper had been brought to hospital.

Ronan missed The One Show, which he was due to co-present with Alex Scott, on Thursday night, with Gethin Jones stepping in to replace him due to their family emergency.

The When You Say Nothing At All singer had earlier told fans on social media that his son was in hospital, writing: ‘Not the 24hrs I had imagined. But ya never know what life has in store. This little guy is an absolute Trooper. I’m blown away with his strength and charm. Mum & Dad are a mess worried sick and he takes it in his stride. I am so incredibly grateful to the staff @chelwestft you guys rock.’

Ronan and Storm are also parents to one-year-old daughter Coco, while Ronan shares son Jack, 22, and daughters Missy, 20, and Ali, 16, with ex-wife Yvonne Connelly.

It’s been a tough few months for the Keating family, as Storm underwent emergency spinal surgery in March to treat cauda equine syndrome, which stemmed from a prolapsed disc.

Cauda equina syndrome is a rare and severe type of spinal stenosis where all of the nerves in the lower back suddenly become severely compressed.

Symptoms include sciatica, severe numbness or weakness in the legs or around the genitals or anus, and issues with urinating, and if left untreated, it can lead to permanent paralysis and incontinence.

Calling the incident ‘the most frightening week of my life’, the star said: ‘. If it wasn’t for Dr Aftab and his acute diligence, care, attentiveness and skills, I would not be walking out of this hospital with the prospects of leading the normal life I had always envisioned I would.’
