If One Direction ever make a comeback, WWE superstar Sami Zayn is up for it.
The current Intercontinental Champion might seem an unlikely choice to step in for Zayn Malik if and when the boys decided it’s time for a return, but he’s found himself in the conversation – sort of.
One poor fan called for a reunion on Twitter and tagged all the band members, but accidentally included Sami instead of Malik – easy mistake to make, to be fair.
However, the wrestler was quick to jump in there, offering a tongue in cheek reply and suggested he’s willing to step up to the plate.
He tweeted: ‘Let’s get the band back together! Whaddaya say boys?!’
The original tweet was hastily deleted – probably to avoid a bit of a roasting, and to make sure the message made it to the correct Zayn.
If the bizarre crossover did pan out, it wouldn’t be the first time Sami has shown an interest in joining a British institution.
Earlier this year, the WWE star revealed his love for the Great British Bake Off, and used Metro.co.uk to throw his name in the hat for a future celebrity version.
Sami – who had eventual winner Peter Sawkins as his early pick for the recent series – told us: ‘I can’t say enough good things about [the show].
‘And I recently learned there’s a Celebrity Bake Off, so if there’s ever some sort of way for me to politic my way into it, I would look forward to that.’
In the meantime, Sami – and the rest of us – will be looking forward to the festive special, with his favourite champ Rahul Mandal back in the fold.
He said: ‘It’s funny, my wife and I will still kinda joke about Rahul from a few seasons ago. [laughs]
‘I think he’s one of the best TV characters of all time, from any show! What a great character. It’s so funny, it’s a great show!’Credit: Original article published here.
