Jeremy Vine captured this terrifying scene with Jason Donovan and a London bus by chance.
A City Sightseeing bus careered by the BBC2 broadcaster while he was riding and recording his route in London.
Neighbours star Jason, 55, had spotted his companion bicycle at the traffic signal as TV personality Jeremy, 58, moments earlier.
The two exchanged pleasantries before Jason darted ahead of Jeremy to make room for traffic as they rode single file.
But what occurred next took them both off surprise, as a London bus is seen – at random on Jeremy’s helmet camera – speeding by the Australian musician and seemingly almost colliding with him.
In the video’s supporting text, Jeremy dubs the driver ‘terrible’.
When they first saw each other, the Too Many Broken Hearts hitmaker is filmed taking out his earphones, and asking, ‘Jeremy? Jason Donovan’ while the broadcaster replied, ‘Nice to see you,’ also adding in text that he hadn’t clocked the mystery man on the bike was that Jason at this stage.
‘Have a good one,’ says Jeremy vaguely, as Jason rides on, commenting that he could recognise the TV personality because of his ‘camera’ – which protruded out of his helmet.
‘It’s the first time I’m trying this actually,’ said Jeremy, who then told Jason to ‘watch’ the bus that was coming up their right hand side.
The bus is then filmed getting a bit too close to Jason for comfort, and outraged Jeremy called out: ‘How he can he do that, how can the bus go that close to you?’
Seemingly unfazed by the incident, Jason remarked: ‘I looked at the helmet and thought who the hell would do something like that, and they I thought, it has to be Jeremy’.
Before the video concluded, the two reconnected passed the bus at the next set of lights, and the presenter reminded the pop icon how close the bus had gotten to him.
Jeremy posted the clip to Twitter/X, alongside the caption: ‘Bloody hell. I just saw a bus nearly take out Jason Donovan.’
You really couldn’t write this moment, and fans thought so too as one commented: ‘Scary but also brilliant vid of two proper legends.’
Others weren’t so happy with Jeremy and Jason’s on-road behaviour though, as one said: ‘Chatting to each other, and not concentrating, Donovan with earphones in, can’t hear anything, holds the bus up for no reason, realises too late, but pulls over to let the bus pass, so what does the bus do, wait till you’ve both finished your “famous mates” chat?’
Ouch. To that, Jeremy responded: ‘Exactly that, dude.’
Another suggested Jason looks a more confident rider than Jeremy, as they said: ‘You keep saying how close the bus was and he absolutely couldn’t give a t**s. You could learn a thing or two from him Jeremy, he’s clearly a more confident rider.’
But the announcer was having none of it, commenting, “Did you watch the video?” That’s around 18 inches, in my opinion.’
Jeremy frequently wears the recording device while riding and then releases recordings of drivers he says are behaving inappropriately.
This comes after Jeremy released another video last month in which he was thrown off his bike by a ‘unbelievable’ mishap with a reversing vehicle.
Alongside the worrying video, he wrote: ‘This morning. About an hour ago. Illegal right turn, then watch. Unbelievable.’
As the van ran over his bike, Jeremy banged on the back to alert the driver and is heard shouting ‘s**t’.
Jeremy, a passionate campaigner for cycling safety, has told The Times that bikes should not be permitted to be overtaken in major cities.
‘I do think, firstly, we shouldn’t allow any overtaking of bicycles in big cities. That’s one step. And I’m starting to think I want cars to pull over if they see me behind them because they know I’m faster,’ he said.
