Selena Gomez pleads with followers to vote in US Election: ‘Your voice does matter’

Selena Gomez couldn’t make the importance of voting in the US election any clearer after sharing a pleading post on Instagram.

The singer was particularly focused on voters from her home state Texas as she encouraged followers to go and vote in person.

As the world waits to see whether Donald Trump or Joe Biden is elected as the next President, Selena urged fans to vote if they had yet to head to the polls.

‘I know that many of you have voted, and I’m so proud and I am so happy that you did, but there is plenty of people that haven’t and I don’t think they plan to,’ the star began on her Instagram Story.

‘So please don’t use mail-in ballot. Please vote in person at this point if you can, especially in my hometown like Texas and Pennsylvania and Florida. Your voice matters.’

The Rare singer continued: ‘So many people think that it doesn’t matter, but other elections have been this close before so you have to understand that your voice does matter and it’s so important.’

Selena ended the message by thanking her fans for listening, emphasizing that everyone should ‘please, please vote in person’.

And she was just one of the many famous names who used their large platforms to encourage fans to cast their vote during this election.

Chelsea Handler and Lizzo weren’t afraid to grab attention with more risque posts, while Sex and the City’s Sarah Jessica Parker was pictured voting with her family.

Elsewhere, even The Simpsons got evolved as they predicted what could happen if people didn’t head to the polls.
