Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has hilariously trolled the awkward Lukas Gage video, which saw the Euphoria actor insulted by a director who thought he was on mute during a Zoom audition.

The clip in question, which saw Lukas expertly turn the situation around and agree he did have a small place – which was the centre of the unnamed director’s comments – but that it was reason alone for him to land the gig he was auditioning for.

In the clip, the unmuted director can be heard saying: ‘These poor people live in these tiny apartments, like, I’m looking at his, you know, background and he’s got his TV and his, you know…’

Handling the moment like a champ, Lukas took the insulting comments in his stride.

With stars popping out of the woodwork to share their shock at the moment, which Lukas posted to his Instagram, director Seth thought he’d add his own little reaction by sharing a clip of Sesame Street character Ernie playing Lukas in the crossover we never expected.

Ernie, sweeping back his hair like Lukas did, said: ‘I live in a 4×4 box with my roommate Bert, so just gimme this job and we’re all good.’

He captioned the clip on Twitter: ‘Apologies to Lukas Gage.’

While we’re not too sure Seth has a puppet of Ernie or he just dubbed a ready-made clip of the Sesame Street icon, many were loving the video and commented underneath it.

Lukas was also evidently a fan as he re-tweeted it to his page.

In the original clip, which was uploaded over the weekend, Lukas had replied to the director’s comments: ‘I know it’s a sh*tty apartment. That’s why give me this job so I can get a better one.’

Realising he had been caught, the director said: ‘Oh my god, I am so, so sorry Lukas’, with the actor saying: ‘No, it’s totally… listen, I’m living in a 4×4 box, just give me the job and we’ll be fine.’

The director was then heard saying he was ‘mortified’.

Lukas captioned the clip: ‘psa: if youre a s**t talking director make sure to mute ur mic on zoom mtgings [sic]’, and it appeared the moment struck a nerve with his actor friends.

Normal People star Paul Mescal commented: ‘What the f**k’, while Game Of Thrones actress Sophie Turner wrote: ‘That’s f***ed up.’

Sophie’s husband Joe Jonas said that Lukas handled the moment ‘like a champ’, while Patrick Schwarzenegger commented: ‘I dunno how u reacted so well lol.’

Former SNL star Molly Shannon wrote: ‘You handled that so well lukas. what a lousy thing of him to say. and here you are putting yourself out there for your audition. vulnerable. wanting to get the part etc.’

Mad Men star January Jones said that she ‘had a guess’ as to who the mystery director was, while Shameless actress Emmy Rossum had her own director horror story.

The identity of the director is yet to be publicly confirmed however the clip on Instagram has been viewed over 850,000 times.

Sadly, Lukas confirmed in the comments he didn’t land the gig…
