Shannen Doherty posted a video of herself taken just before an anesthesiologist prepped her for surgery.
Shannen, 52, stated that she was going to have a tumour in her brain removed and said she was ‘terrified’ in a video released on Wednesday.
Despite her dread, the Charmed star put on a cheerful front, even joking around with her doctor.
The celebrity, who was sitting straight in her hospital bed wearing a robe and mask, captioned the post: ‘January 16, 2023. Surgery. I had a tumour in my head they wanted to remove and also biopsy.
‘I am clearly trying to be brave but I am petrified. The fear was overwhelming to me.’
Shannen went on: ‘Scared of all possible bad outcomes, worried about leaving my mom and how that would impact her.
‘Worried that I would come out of surgery not me anymore. This is what cancer can look like.’
Before the actress went under anaesthesia, Shannen’s doctor could be heard asking her questions, one of which was: ‘Any weakness in the legs?’
Shannen jokingly replied with a smile: ‘No. So I know that that right foot is perfectly fine going into surgery. It’s fine. If something is wrong with it afterwards…’
In 2020, she was diagnosed with stage four cancer and pulled away from the spotlight to focus on her health.
Shannen has been providing open updates on her struggle with the cancer in recent weeks, and earlier this month she released another video of herself getting radiation.
She captioned the footage: ‘January 12, 2023. On January 5th, my ct scan showed Mets in my brain. Yesterday’s video was showing the process of getting fitted for the mask which you wear during radiation to your brain.’
Shannen continued: ‘January 12, the first round of radiation took place. My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life.
‘I am fortunate as I have great doctors like Dr Amin Mirahdi and the amazing techs at cedar sinai.
‘But that fear…. The turmoil….. the timing of it all…. This is what cancer can look like [sic].’
Shannen’s eyes wet as she prepared to receive therapy, while her physicians gave her instructions.
