So Solid Crew’s Lisa Maffia opened up about her mother’s terminal cancer diagnosis while waiting for her own test results.
The 41-year-old recently revealed that she had been abnormal cells, telling fans that it’s ‘not a game.’
She has been ‘overwhelmed’ by her own cancer scare after watching her mum Shirley’s battle.
‘My mum had cervical cancer that’s spread all over her body and she now has terminal cancer,’ she told The Sun.
Her mum was diagnosed with cervical cancer when she felt a constant pain in her leg as well as bleeding.
She missed having a smear test for around five years.
Lisa continued: ‘She’s quite a proud and self-conscious person and gets embarrassed.
‘Going to the doctors and getting a smear she thought it was quite invasive and she put it off.’
By the time Shirley felt the pain which made her go to the hospital, it was already two years ‘too late.’
By that point, it had spread to her lymph node glands and collar bone.
Although she was in remission for seven years, the cancer returned all over her body.
Lisa recently clarified to her fans that she wasn’t actually diagnosed with cancer, but had to burn away cancerous cells.
‘So this is just a message and wanted to share this with all of you, it’s so important to make sure you keep up to date with our smear tests and any checks in general on your health and to be mindful of your health because it can happen to anyone,’ she said.
‘So without being upset anymore because everything is OK – I’m cool.’
However after receiving ‘hundreds of messages’ from people showing their support, the (Oh No) Sentimental Things star followed it up with a tearful video explaining she had actually had abnormal cells that had to be ‘burned away’.
