Stacey Dooley has no hard feelings towards her ex-boyfriend, Sam Tucknott, despite him branding her new man, Kevin Clifton, a love ‘rat’.
The Strictly Come Dancing star split from Sam in March 2019 after three years together before going on to date her dance partner Kevin.
Following their split, Sam spoke out to criticise Stacey’s new relationship and called Kevin a ‘snake’ and ‘rat’.
Now two years later, Stacey has addressed her ex’s remarks for the first time but isn’t holding a grudge.
Recalling the scandal, the TV presenter told the Daily Mail’s You Magazine: ‘I was in America when that happened and I’d had no idea it was going to be all over the front pages.
‘I just thought, “I need to take a moment and not react.”’
Speaking highly of their relationship, Stacey went on: ‘I didn’t want to get into a slanging match. Because there was a time when I really loved Sam. I adored his family. And I still really want what’s best for him.
‘I just… feel like I’ve grown a lot. I feel so much more mature than I was then. I want him to have a brilliant life.’
She continued: ‘I’m never ever going to say anything that would hurt him. It’s actually one of the things I really love about Kevin. He and Karen [Hauer, Kevin’s ex-wife and fellow Strictly pro dancer] have always been really amicable.
‘Karen and I have always been really amicable. We toured the country together for the show. We’re all grown-ups.’
Stacey and Kevin’s relationship has gone from strength to strength and they recently bought a new home together.
Last year, the presenter said she wanted to keep their romance out of the spotlight as much as possible and told The Guardian: ‘Kev and I have agreed not to go into too much detail about our private lives because you can’t really indulge that and then ask for privacy.
‘What I am happy to say is Kev’s amazing, I’m happy, life happens, I’ve got an amazing career, and I’m very lucky.’
