Noah Schnapp posted cute photos of himself at New York Pride, his first Pride event since coming out on TikTok earlier this year.
The 18-year-old actor was clothed in a’straight outta the closet’ T-shirt and splashed around in ankle-high water at Washington Square Park.
Noah created a coming out video on TikTok after rumours about the sexuality of his Stranger Things character Will Byers began to build.
‘I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought,’ read the caption and fans quickly shared an outpouring of love for the young star.
Noah has already attended his first Pride celebration, wearing white pants, a rainbow T-shirt, and a matching rainbow headband and sweatband combo.
He uploaded images of himself splashing about in a pool with friends and relatives, and the obvious delight on his face was wonderful.
The star’s mother also came, and they both shared a lovely image of Noah kissing her on the cheek before heading to the park and marching in the parade, which had glitter and flags everywhere.
While others chose to leave cruel comments on his Instagram, fans rallied behind him and complimented him on his first-ever Pride.
‘So happy for you Noah ❤️❤️,’ wrote one fan.
Comedian Ali Wong shared a heart emoji while another commenter said: ‘I’m happy for you ❤️ free ❤️.’
Fans had hoped that the final season of Stranger Things will confront Will’s sexuality, since many saw their own path reflected in Noah’s portrayal.
‘It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friend?’ Schnapp told Variety of the relationship between Will and best friend Mike.
Noah’s coming out was embraced by his cast colleagues, particularly David Harbour, who told E! News, “I’m always pleased for individuals who are true to themselves and come out.” That was fantastic.’
Stranger Things viewers will have to wait a little longer for the conclusion of Will’s journey, as the show was paused due to a writers’ strike.
”Writing does not cease when filming begins,” the Duffer brothers noted at the time. While we are eager to begin production with our incredible cast and team, it is not feasible during the strike.’
Filming was supposed to begin in June, but the showrunners have not provided an update since their solidarity with the strikers.
