The Apprentice star Ryan-Mark Parsons has savagely hit out at Rita Ora for hosting a birthday party amid lockdown – branding her behaviour ‘wretched’.
Let You Love Me singer Rita turned 30 on November 26 and while she had initially celebrated the milestone at home, she later hosted a dinner party for her and her friends at a restaurant in Notting Hill over the weekend.
Rita was seen arriving at the West London venue, along with her pals, with police later seen arriving at the restaurant.
For the last four weeks, England has been in a national lockdown, where pubs and restaurants were among hospitality venues forced to close and mixing households both indoors and outdoors was prohibited.
Rita has since apologised for the rule break and has reportedly paid a £10,000 fine.
Having his say on her rule break, Ryan-Mark slammed Rita’s actions and claims he ‘couldn’t care less’ that the star has now issued an apology.
Writing for the Daily Star, he said: ‘The problem is, if we all had parties like Rita, mortality would be even higher than it is currently. So, when she issued an “apology”, I couldn’t care less and you shouldn’t either.’
‘She didn’t care if her reckless antics would exacerbate the spread, if somebody who attended that event had the virus, and therefore land one of your relatives in hospital… wretched behaviour that deserve every bit of the backlash she’s received so far.’
It was first reported that Rita had invited 30 guests to her birthday bash, but Metro.co.uk now understands the group was much smaller.
Still, Ryan-Mark slammed Rita’s pals in attendance for being ‘equally negligent’ for flouting government rules.
‘There’s no doubt in my mind, Rita apologised because she was caught. Had she got away with it, I wouldn’t be writing about her at all. What’s there to say, quite frankly? Nothing interesting I can think of,’ the reality star wrote.
Since news of her party surfaced, Rita has been criticised by Piers Morgan and her music was even banned from one irked radio presenter. Ben Clark, who hosts local station Radio Exe in Exeter, chose to blacklist Rita following her rule break.
Rita was due to appear on The Jonathan Ross Show this weekend, but has now pulled out of the show and has postponed her appearance to a later date.
Addressing the party, an embarrassed Rita branded her actions ‘inexcusable’ as she issued a statement on social media amid the backlash.
The I Will Never Let You Down singer wrote: ‘Hello all, I attended a small gathering with some friends to celebrate my 30th birthday. It was a spur of the moment decision made with the misguided view that we were coming out of lockdown and this would be OK…
‘I’m deeply sorry for breaking the rules and in turn understand that this puts people at risk.’
Rita continued: ‘’This was a serious and inexcusable error of judgement. Given the restrictions, I realise how irresponsible these actions were and I take full responsibility.’
‘I feel particularly embarrassed knowing first-hand how hard people have worked to combat this terrible illness and being fully aware of the sacrifices that people and businesses have made to help keep us all safe,’ she said.
‘Even though this won’t make it right, I want to sincerely apologise.’
