Tom Hanks has shaved off all his hair for his role in Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming biopic about Elvis Presley.
The 64-year-old actor, who plays Colonel Tom Parker in the film, quickly unveiled his new look during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.
Joining the programme via a live video link, Tom initially hid his freshly shaven scalp underneath a black cap.
It wasn’t long before he opened up about the unfortunate haircut though, and he jokingly tried to do everything in his power to keep it out of view as he showed it off.
‘Let me show you the horrible haircut I have to have in order to portray Colonel Tom Parker,’ Tom said.
He then proceeded to stand up from his chair where he removed his hat, however his head was not in view of the camera.
‘Check out this horrible… Do you see that?’ he pointed out. ‘Look at that thing?’
Graham ushered Tom to sit back down so viewers could see his new do and the actor obliged – but did so quicker than the speed of light before putting his cap back on.
‘I just scared the children,’ Tom said immediately after. ‘I want to apologise.’
In March, Tom and his wife Rita Wilson contracted coronavirus while he was filming the Elvis biopic in Australia.
The production was halted, with Warner Bros announcing at the time it was ‘taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world.’
The Graham Norton Show airs tonight at 10.25pm on BBC One.
