The Wanted star Tom Parker has released his first single since revealing news he has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.
The singer, 32, confirmed news he has stage four glioblastoma – an aggressive tumour that can rapidly spread if not treated – in October.
Tom revealed that he is already undergoing treatment for the tumour and is hoping to ‘beat it’, while asking fans for their ‘love and positivity’.
Since then, he’s been focusing on music and recently dropped his latest single – a cover of Tamia’s R&B track So Into You – alongside X Factor star Ollie Marland under their Lost + Found duo.
Speaking about the single following its release, Tom revealed the cover came about when he was playing around in the studio with different instrumentals.
He explained: ‘This song came about when we first moved into our then-new studio. I came in early and played an instrumental we’d been working on the week before and started to sing the song over it.’
‘Ollie thought, “that’s incredible, what is that?” not realising that it was the absolute R&B classic, originally by Tamia.’
Tom had teased the release of the cover over on Instagram and told fans he was ‘delighted’ to be sharing it with them all.
The new track comes after Tom revealed he ‘can’t wait to get back touring whenever is possible’, as he revealed to Guilty Pleasures that he plans on ‘making music and continuing to be as annoying as possible with our constant laughing in the studio and in general life.’
He also revealed that music legend Rod Stewart reached out to him show his support following his tumour diagnosis.
Tom had told fans in a statement shared by him and his wife Kelsey: ‘There’s no easy way to say this but I’ve sadly been diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and I’m already undergoing treatment.
‘We decided, after a lot of thought, that rather than hiding away and trying to keep it a secret, we would do one interview where we could lay out all the details and let everyone know the facts in our own way.’
It continued: ‘We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way. We don’t want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options.
‘It’s gonna be a tough battle but with everyone’s love and support we are going to beat this. Tom and Kelsey xxx’
Tom and Kelsey wed in 2018 and are parents to two children; daughter Aurelia, one, and one-month-old son Bodhi, who arrived at the end of October.
