The director of the next Willy Wonka film has given some delectable behind-the-scenes details.
Paul King stated in a new interview that the ensemble of the film was plunged in ‘enormous’ vats of lukewarm chocolate. Is anyone else’s stomach grumbling?
The much-anticipated picture, starring Timothée Chalamet as Roald Dahl’s eccentric chocolatier, enters theatres in December and is a prequel to the author’s 1964 children’s tale, which follows a youngster named Charlie who visits Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory.
The ‘amazing chocolatier’ who worked on the project, according to Paddington director King, used a ‘huge bit’ of chocolate on site.
‘We had this incredible chocolatier,’ raved the filmmaker.
‘She made these incredible concoctions, and we would taste them. They tasted much better than they needed to, because obviously actors are good at pretending things, but the miracle was they tasted every bit as good as they looked,’ he added to People.

‘We really produced a large vat of hot chocolate – not scorching, just warm hot chocolate for them to immerse themselves in,’ King said of a scene in which Wonka’s companion Noodle (played by Calah Lan) gets drowned in chocolate.
‘So there was a lot of chocolate around.’
According to the Independent, Chalamet also gets submerged in chocolate.
The first Wonka trailer dropped earlier this month, and while it was a pleasure to see Chalamet flexing his singing and dancing chops, it was Hugh Grant who stole the show.

Grant made his debut appearance as a 20-inch tall, brilliant orange Oompa Loompa, and he did not disappoint.
The Bafta-winning actor, 62, looks cute and terrifying in a purple tweed suit with bloomers and matching pointy-toed pom-pom-adorned shoes.
This creepiness fades fast as he pompously declares that he is the appropriate height for an Oompa Loompa, then whips out a small flute and proceeds to dance.
Iconic.
