Zoe Ball shared a heartbreaking update with her fans, revealing that her mother, Julia Peckham, was moved to a hospice earlier this week.
The radio DJ had previously taken time off her show to care for her mother, who has pancreatic cancer.
Last month, she revealed that the cancer is ‘quite advanced’ and that the family is focusing on creating memories together.
She has now revealed that Julia has been ‘gently’ moved into a hospice, with the 53-year-old presenter dedicating a Bon Jovi song to the paramedics who assisted them.
‘Mum’s in hospice now, pretty tough at the moment for the family,’ shared Zoe as she thanked the people ‘who are really looking after mum’.
Zoe has had to take time off from her show, and her Mamma Mia talent show with Alan Carr was shelved in April.
‘I know so many people in the same position as Jamie, my bro, and my dear mum at the moment,’ Zoe continued.
‘Things are really tough for my mum at the moment, just sending out loads of love. And, especially to anyone who is running the marathon this special causes.
‘Big shout out to anyone running for cancer charities, especially pancreatic cancer, you’re all superheroes. Love you mum.’
Off-air, she continued her thank-you message but did not provide any additional updates to her 703,000 Instagram followers.
The presenter wrote: ‘Thank you for all your kindness. The messages, letters and cards for our Mum mean the world.
‘Strength and love to the many families and folk touched by cancer. Holding tight and so grateful to the incredible people looking after our Ma.
‘We pass these bluebells on the way to the hospice.’
Despite the heartbreak at home, the Radio 2 presenter stated that she wanted to work as much as possible.
When Zoe first revealed her mother’s diagnosis, it was announced that Gaby Roslin, 59, would step in whenever Zoe needed a break.
The former It Takes Two host expressed her admiration for all carers and joked about her recent housework.
Zoe, despite being a BBC star, joked that she and her mother have mainly watched rivals ITV.
‘I have now watched a lot of a certain channel with my mum, I now know my mum’s habits,’ she teased.
‘GMB with Susanna Reid and then we have a bit of Lorraine and then a bit of Cat [Deeley] and Ben [Shephard] on This Morning and then a lot of Ben on Tipping Point.’
