8 Lingerie Labels To Fall For This Valentine’s Day

The Victoria’s Secret standard of beauty is long gone, and, finally, in 2021, we have lingerie that’s as inclusive as it is sexy. We have Rihanna to thank for pushing progress forwards – Paloma Elsesser, Lizzo, a heavily pregnant Slick Woods, members of the LGBTQI+ community and plus-size male models are but a few of the beautiful bodies that have graced the stage at Savage x Fenty’s annual show – but a a host of indie brands are making the lingerie offering much more thrilling, too.

Campaigns feature un-retouched models, size ranges are more inclusive (though there’s always room for improvement here), and styles feature sumptuous colours and interesting silhouettes. Wave goodbye to bras and briefs designed under the male gaze, and hello to lingerie made by and for bodies of all shapes and sizes. Whether you wear yours for a sexy Zoom call, gift to your amour or wear for yourself and yourself only, meet the brands making getting dressed up (and down) so much better.

Lara Intimates

The low-down: Lara Intimates couldn’t find a responsible lingerie factory in England to enable their creation of affordable but sustainably-minded underwear, so they founded their own. Based in London, all of their pieces, coming in the most joyful colours, are created in-house with local and eco-friendly suppliers using reclaimed and surplus fabrics. Even better, cut offs are recycled and slightly imperfect pieces are given new life as part of the brand’s Factory Seconds collection.Sizes: Bras come in 26A – 36GG and pants come in sizes 6 – 16.

Price point: Briefs are £20 and bras are £48.

Beija London

The low-down: Co-founders Abbie and Maizie launched Beija to prove that there’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all when it comes to underwear. The sisters gained experience and insight from their lingerie manufacturing family, underpinning their brand with everything from the world’s best fabric technology to ethical working practises. They have every style sorted, from seamless to multi-strap, each coming in a style suitable no matter your size.Sizes: Pieces come in AA – H cup but the brand broke the mould with unique size categories back in 2016.

Price point: Briefs start at £18 while bras come in from £50.

The Underargument

The low-down: We love The Underargument, founded in 2015 by Maïna Cissé, for many reasons, but firstly its casting. Every single woman on site is cast for the story they share with the brand, rather than their looks, with the label only asking for their size ahead of meeting them on shoot day. Beyond the wonderfully representative models on site, the lingerie itself is gorgeous. From contemporary geometric patterns to classic lace and velvet numbers, there’s a style to suit every taste, and thanks to using the most sumptuous fabrics, they feels as luxurious and they look.Sizes: Bras come in 28B / 30A – 38E and pants from 6 – 18.

Price point: From around £46.
