This week, Ralph Lauren debuted a £620 set of overalls that looked like it had already been worn… a lot.
The expensive jumpsuit was covered in paint splatters with scuffs at the knees for a ‘distressed’ feel.
Customers were more distressed at the price tag, however, taking to social media to show their shock at how expensive it is to look like you’ve been on the tools all day.
Off the back of this, B&Q has come up with their own budget-friendly version of the outfit, with a splattered jumpsuit kit for just £16.60.
To put that into perspective, it’s 97% saving compared to if you were to buy the Ralph Lauren one.
You will have to put your DIY skills into practice for this, however, as the kit contains the plain boilersuit along with tester pots of both white and orange emulsion paint.
Simply lay your canvas (clothing) down and get a bit Jackson Pollock with it.
Customers can also choose to mix and match their paint colours, customising the design to suit their own wardrobe.
If sales are anything to go by, this could be a trend that’s set to stay; B&Q has seen sales of navy coveralls treble in the past 6 weeks.
So, frugal fashionistas, there’s no need to splash out. Head to the B&Q website now to pick up your very own pair of coveralls to customise.
