Rixo’s latest 100% recycled swimwear line

If you’re hitting the beach or lidos this summer, a fail-safe swimming cossie will be top of your list.

But it can be challenging to get swimwear that’s good for the environment.

After all, with intimate items like bikinis and bodies, shopping second-hand isn’t really an option.

Thankfully, a number of fashion brands have been making waves with sustainable swimwear over the past few years, like British brand Rixo.

After releasing its debut swimwear line a few years back, Rixo is back with a new collection, offering pieces with the brand’s signature ‘vintage with a twist’ style.

The new 11-piece line is made up of swimsuits and bikinis in an array of different designs – all of which are made with 100% recycled materials.

Created using Q-NOVA, both the main fabric and the linings of the vibrant bikinis and one-pieces use petroleum-based waste materials.

So shoppers can be rest-assured that their swimwear has been produced with fewer CO2 emissions and less water than other brands.

In terms of the pieces themselves, there’s a strong nautical theme – you’ll find shell prints, mermaid designs, pearl motifs and more.

Shoppers can pick from different styles – Rita, Trya, Alice, Jenny, Jane and Kristen – and certain prints are available for each.

Prices start from £125 for one-pieces and range from £60 to £85 each for separate bikini tops and bottoms.

It might cost more than other swimwear on the market, but it’s worth the investment knowing you’ll be doing your bit for the planet.

Below are some of our top picks from the new collection:
