ASOS is a go-to for many when it comes to retail therapy.
Whether it be occasionwear, shoes, lingerie or exercise necessities, it really is a one stop shop.
However, with the sheer volume of clothes available on the website, chances are always high that a questionable option will appear on the fashion pages.
And this is exactly what happened with a certain pair of trousers that have mystified ASOS shoppers.
The pants in question are croc print ‘thong’ trousers. Synonymous with the late nineties and early noughties, wearing a low rise pant and showing off your thong was once an acceptable sartorial move.
Now in 2021, the trend is a 2-in-1. The two elements are no longer separate but fused together.
Created by brand ASYOU, the croc print trousers are priced at £22 and described as ‘mid rise’ with ‘thong detail to back.’
To the front, the pants look normal in design. Yet once turned around, the material is replaced with a black thong.
Many shoppers took to Twitter to share their thoughts about the ‘thong’ trousers.
‘Victorians! Let the absolute absurdity of these thong pants on ASOS cheer you up – and pray that lockdown lasts long enough that we never have to see anyone wearing these out on chapel street on a Saturday night,’ wrote one person.
Another said: ‘Remember when low rise jeans were in fashion in the 00s and your mate at college would lean over to grab her copy of Heat magazine and flash the room her thong inspo?’
While more joked about design changes they would make.
One Twitter pundit quipped: ‘Personally, I’d go for a different thong. A bit narrower perhaps.’
