The Best Denim Brands To Suit Every Type Of Petite Style

If you have a petite frame, it’s likely that you remember the moment where things got long. One minute everything fits perfectly; the next, you realise that everything you try on drowns you. You could make the economical decision to keep shopping in the kids’ department but sometimes you’re just not after a bedazzled butterfly on your back pocket.

What’s the answer to this styling conundrum? Shopping with brands that offer dedicated petite sections. Any piece of clothing made with petite bodies in mind is appreciated, of course, but nothing is more sought after than denim for dinky frames. The perfect pair of jeans is difficult enough to find as it is – adding a short inseam to the list of criteria makes it an almost impossible task.

Luckily, there is a selection of brands which keep their petite sections stocked with denim tailored for short babes. Whether you’re on the hunt for a sustainably made pair of bleached skinny jeans or a fashion-forward pair of flares, we’ve compiled a list of the best petite denim on the market. To discover the best brands in the business, click through the slideshow ahead…

Reformation

Reformation is known in the fashion world for its commitment to sustainability and lists an impact report on site of each product’s water, waste and carbon dioxide savings. While the main range is designed to fit women who are between 5′6 and 5′10, the brand also carries a petite collection created for babes 5′2 and under. Browsing through, you can find a range of dresses, skirts, jumpsuits and more, but it’s the denim collection that really makes a mark.

Offering eight styles in total, Reformation combines organic cotton with TENCEL™ Lyocell to create both rigid-fit and stretch comfort denim in a range of washes. If you don’t fancy classic styles like skinny or straight leg, may we suggest checking out the cropped Eloise jean with exposed buttons for a sweet springtime look.

Offering a dedicated section for those who are 5’3 and under, you’ll find that denim makes up one of the biggest categories on site, with over 62 petite jean styles currently in stock.Topshop is perfect for those looking to kit out their wardrobe with a reliable pair of black skinnies but it also has styles for those searching for something with a little more spice. FRAME

A firm favourite of Gigi, Bella, Kendall and Karlie, FRAME is known for its well-crafted denim. Based between Los Angeles and London, the brand has developed a reputation as an off-duty model staple, which doesn’t exactly scream petite-friendly. However, the label also keeps its smaller shopper in mind, with a sweetly named section dubbed ‘Le Pixie’.

Created for women 5’3 and under, the range sticks to the brand’s ’70s aesthetic with a number of flared and bootcut designs. Our favourite style is one made to suit quarantine life: the Slouch. This spring 2021 addition is sustainably made from recycled cotton and offers a baggy fit that won’t drown short legs. Tuck in your favourite band tee and you’re good to go.

If you like to keep things California cool, PAIGE is the brand for you. With a selection of slim-fit cropped jeans, the brand is a reliable source of well-made, easy-to-wear denim. Many of the petite styles are cut from their Transcend Vintage denim, drawing inspiration from classic colour washes and combining it with a stretch-friendly fabric (they even carry petite maternity jeans). The back pocket of every pair features the brand’s signature whipstitch: nine stitched bars representing nine lives which stand as a reminder to always keep growing. Cute!

ASOS DESIGN

Known as an online catalogue of some of the biggest high street labels, ASOS’ own brands often get forgotten amid the noise. ASOS DESIGN is the perfect place to go for affordable trend-led pieces, including petite denim. Unlike some of the pricier petite brands, ASOS DESIGN focuses on fun and classic styles, offering ’90s-inspired dad jeans as well as classic straight-cut pieces.

If you’re sustainability-focused, you’ll be happy to know that a selection of petite jeans appear in the site’s ‘responsible edit’, with pieces made from 100% sustainable cotton which requires 50% less water to create. Our current favourite is the ripped relaxed fit, because who has time to be uncomfy these days?

Stradivarius

Sometimes you don’t want a dedicated petite section, you just want to shop every style in petite form. Well, Spanish brand Stradivarius is here to fulfil that need, offering a wide variety of jeans in three options: regular, tall and petite. No need to trawl the website searching for a short section, simply click on whichever pair of jeans catches your eye and select your size and leg length.

Not every single style on the site is available in petite but there are enough classic styles to keep your jeans drawer stocked. If the idea of rigid denim makes you want to run for the hills, the brand has you covered with a large selection of skinny jeans in super stretchy fabrics.

Unlike its Spanish sister brand, Bershka leans towards more trend-led styles, offering ’90s-inspired designs like bleached flares and baggy ripped denim. The brand is also stepping towards more sustainable practices, with some jeans using recycled cotton, meaning less water consumption and lower environmental impact.
