Trying to make more conscious decisions about your clothing?
This week’s Hot List is celebrating brands that are reducing waste, using plant based and eco-friendly materials, and being transparent about their supply chains.
There’s responsible leather, eco-friendly trainers and even accessories made from upcycled bottletops.
Plus there are gorgeous limited edition and made-to-order garments from Percy Langley and Kitri, proving that fashion doesn’t have to be fast.
Percy Langley x Minkie collection
Percy Langley has again teamed up with Minkie to produce an A/W collection focused on sustainable production and minimal waste.
The dresses (available in sizes six to 18) are made to order in a few days using surplus ‘deadstock’ fabric. We like this roomy tartan number.
Iris & Ink A/W leather collection
Iris & Ink’s A/W leather collection has been produced in a tannery certified by the Leather Working Group, a non-profit organisation that seeks to improve environmental impact through all levels of the supply chain. I love this Béatrice wrap effect midi skirt in burgundy.
Kitri Lorna Pink Stripe Zip Collar Cotton Sweater
Independent fashion brand Kitri not only creates great clothes, it produces its collections in limited runs, only restocking the styles in truly high demand to avoid producing any excess.
Like this sold-out Lorna Pink Stripe Zip Collar Cotton Sweater, which is now available to pre-order for delivery at the end of November.
Bottletop x Lone Design Club
Bottletop uses upcycled metal (by reusing old ring pulls) to create its signature chain mail used on bags, purses and phone cases, among other things.
It has now teamed up with leading ethical online fashion and lifestyle shop Lone Design Club to bring its wares to the masses.
Aket 2021 Upcycled Down winterwear collection
Arket’s 2021 Upcycled Down winterwear collection is bigger than ever, featuring jackets, coats and accessories for women, men and children, all made entirely from recycled materials including the shells and lining.
There’s something for every body shape too, from mid-calf to straight fitting or cinched.
Veja has teamed up with Vibram to create a stylish eco-conscious shoe.
Called the Dekkan, the insole is made from 51% sugar cane and 21% recycled plastic bottles, the midsole is made from 70% sugar cane, and the outsole consists of 30% Amazonian rubber and 5% rice water. The fabric is recycled polyester.
Available in four cool colourways.
