Have you ever imagined walking around smelling like Hull or south London? Your response is probably ‘no,’ but thanks to Lidl, you can now.
The grocery company has released a bizarre collection of body sprays inspired by four locations in the United Kingdom.
If the perfume of Hull doesn’t appeal to you, you might try the Barry scent, which was inspired by the Vale of Glamorgan town in Wales, or Leith, a port region in Scotland, or perhaps the hustle and bustle of Peckham is the scent for you.
Cien’s novelty four-pack of body sprays is inspired by Lidl’s best-selling retail locations and is available for a limited time only.
Each gift package contains full-sized body sprays of the four distinct perfumes, making it a possible top stocking filler for ‘Lidl super fans and proud locals alike’ this Christmas.
Each spray bottle also includes a custom label depicting a local landmark, such as Hull’s Humber Bridge, Barry’s arcade, Peckham’s Rye Lane, or Edinburgh Castle in Leith.
Lidl has gone above and beyond by providing a love letter to each region, which acts as a description for each scent.
What does your home city or home town smell like?
According to Lidl’s descriptions of each aroma:
- Cien Hull: A strong northern aroma that’ll make any day feel ‘reet grand’. Expect a smooth industrial ambience, a bold smattering of seagulls. This is a scent made for the City (‘til I die)
- Cien Barry: What’s occurring in Cien Barry? Don’t get me wrong, to be honest, at the end of the day, this fragrance has the versatility of an omelette, filled with the subtle scents of the arcade, bright beach huts and rickety fairground rides
- Cien Peckham: A soulful, southern scent, grounded in bold beats and bars. Expect an essence of barber shops, salt fish, scenic rooftop restaurants and notes of the Old Nags Head. That’ll do, Rodney
- Cien Leith: An eclectic aroma of community and perseverance. With industrious roots, this fragrance boasts notes of street art, sourdough and sea mist, with booze-soaked beer mats and friendly dugs aplenty
Although the range isn’t available in store, Lidl is giving away free boxes of the full collection nationwide, with 500 packs up for grabs. All you need to do is register your interest by emailing info@lidlecien.co.uk. The giveaway opened on Thursday (November 30) and will close on December 7 at 23:59.
