Open Fires of the Rich and Famous: Who Keeps Warm Using What This Winter?

While gas and electric heat might be incredibly convenient, it’s hard to deny that nothing is as luxurious as basking in the warmth of a good old open fire.

So it is no surprise that the rich and famous have always enjoyed relaxing in front of beautiful fires since the dawn of time. Throughout history, extravagant marble fireplaces have been one of the many ways in which kings, emperors, and illustrious aristocrats attempted to showcase their wealth.

And while today’s fireplaces are fundamentally different to those used centuries ago and your favourite actor or musical is much more likely to burn premium oak logs from Lekto instead of seasoning their own, the tradition lives on to this very day.

To celebrate the start of the winter season, we’ve compiled a list of celebrities with the most tasteful wood-burning appliances.

Geri Halliwell

The Spice Girls were undoubtedly the 1990s biggest and most exciting girl band. And while Geri Halliwell had other successful ventures since the group’s heyday (including becoming a children’s book author), most of Britain will always remember her as Ginger Spice.

During a Spice Girls reunion at one of Geri’s many country homes, she gave fans a glimpse into her tastefully-furnished living space.

The home has a lovely rustic aesthetic, which is best showcased by the stunning living room. The tasteful open fire succeeds as a decorative item by enhancing the look without drawing too much attention to itself.

Gok Wan

Being one of Gok’s many celebrity friends comes with many perks.

And one of the best ones is getting to see and enjoy the interiors of his absolutely gorgeous London home.

Judging by his Instagram, the living room is especially beautiful. The bold walls create a warm atmosphere. And the breathtaking black fireplace gives off an air of luxury and class.

Greg Wallace

If you ask us, Masterchef star Gregg Wallace has one of the cosiest living rooms in Britain.

The wood burner is located is surrounded by red brick, which further adds to its rustic feel. Carefully arranged around the burner are logs that actually look like they had been seasoned at home.

Even Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson wouldn’t look out of place sitting in front of this wood burner setup, so we’re giving it an A+.

Lisa Faulkner

Like all successful open fire projects, Lisa Faulkner and John Torode’s is beautiful in its simplicity.

The black open fire sits surrounded by white marble with a stunning carved finish.

The couple further decorated the area with lots of family photos and a clock on the mantelpiece.

And thanks to a white mirror that matches the marble finish of the open fire, the living space looks even larger than it is.
