Tesco has announced a significant change in the way it presents yellow stickered discount products, which will be welcomed news to people suffering from the effects of food price increases as the cost of living crisis continues.
Following a successful trial in 100 Tesco shops last year, the grocer will roll out new signage to 300 Tesco locations.
The large, bright lettering will read’reduced in price, same as lovely,’ making it much simpler for cash-strapped buyers to find discounted products.
Underneath the signs will be yellow-stickered items, which are either nearing the end of their shelf life or have been discontinued, and have therefore been lowered in price.
Items are frequently discounted by up to 80%, and many things may be frozen, allowing you to bulk buy deals and preserve them for a later date.
Sandwiches, meat, bread, salads, desserts, and other goods are all discounted.

Tesco group quality, technical and sustainability director Claire Lorains said: “At Tesco, we have no time for food waste and we do everything we can to reduce it.
‘Our customers are always on the lookout for great value food, and our rebranded ‘reduced in price, just as nice’ signage makes it easier than ever to spot a short-dated and top-quality bargain.’
The original trial began last year after a survey revealed that buyers were more likely to buy yellow stickered things if the locations in which they were placed looked attractive.
Not only will the change make it easier for consumers to see the reduced items, but the inclusion of ‘just as nice’ on the signage will assist shoppers clarify that the products are still of excellent quality.
