If you visit Tesco today, you may notice something different.
This is because the shop is testing new labelling to determine which of its items are menopause-friendly.
Suitable items will bear the M-tick, the world’s first symbol to indicate items that help with menopause symptoms. These labels will be plainly visible on all items, whether in-store and online.
A menopause-friendly area has also been established in certain Tesco shops to assist customers in locating these specialised products as well as highlighting additional things that are safe to use during menopause.
For the next six weeks, the new sections will be available at the end of an aisle at roughly 200 supermarkets across Great Britain.
It comes as Tesco partners with GenM, an awareness collective that empowers companies to redefine how women explore, source, and shop throughout menopause.
There are presently over 48 identified menopausal symptoms, with more than 70% experiencing one or more of them. Many of the symptoms can be devastating and life-changing, so having access to items that can assist can make a huge difference for some people.
The specialised displays will include Vitabiotics vitamins, Nivea, Olay, and Simple skincare goods, as well as Tena and Always products. Davina McCall‘s best-selling new book, ‘Menopausing’, will also be discussed.
If you’re shopping online, Tesco.com has a permanent dedicated menopause filter under the Health & Beauty section of the website, where you’ll find more than 450 carefully curated products chosen based on research into the online shopping habits of those going through menopause.
Tesco’s category director for health, beauty, and wellbeing, Tom Lye, stated: “We are committed to transforming the shopping experience for those going through menopause, and working with Gen-M is the next step in supporting our customers and colleagues.”‘We hope the dedicated display in stores and the online filter will provide reassurance around what products are safe to use and help signpost to products that can ease the symptoms associated with menopause.’

Heather Jackson, co-founder of Gen-M, praised Tesco for the changes in-store and online. She added, “We are delighted to welcome Tesco into the GenM collective of responsible brands and retailers and couldn’t be prouder to see Tesco creating a designated space for menopause-friendly products in stores and deploying our game-changing menopause-friendly symbol, the M-Tick, as the all-important signpost to these products.”
‘Tesco is pioneering the future of retail and leading the way in truly embracing and understanding menopausal consumers, underpinned by our research. All of this serves to empower this historically overlooked audience with the choice and control to manage their menopause in the way that best suits them. We can’t underestimate the impact of a national retailer leading the way and showing what is possible.’
In addition to this fantastic retail news, Tesco customers received an urgent three-week warning concerning their Clubcards.
