Unless hosting guests, you likely don’t think much about your dishes. But check your cabinets and you’ll notice scratches covering your plates, bowls, and saucers.
It’s frustrating to buy nice tableware only for it to become wrecked through daily use. Not the look you want before a dinner party.
But as TikToker Joel (@nanananabeedah) shared, these marks aren’t scratches at all. And they’re easy to remove with a £5 product.
“Do you also have old plates like these?” Joel asked, showing his crockery. “If you’re like me you thought they were scratched beyond repair. Well, think again.”
“These grey scratches are actually metal streaks left by your knives and cutlery and can be literally wiped off,” Joel explained.
He used Bar Keepers Friend to prove his point. After gently scrubbing with the powder, the marks vanished in seconds, leaving the plate looking new.

‘Bar Keepers Friend is now also my friend,’ added the TikToker, and thousands of others agreed, including one person who commented: ‘You just saved my plates! Thank you.’
Thousands agreed in the comments. “You just saved my plates! Thank you,” one said. Others had success on Le Creuset and other dishware.
Some suggested baking soda, Pink Stuff, or magic erasers as alternatives. Test patches are recommended, as is wearing gloves and rinsing thoroughly.
If your dishes seem fit for the bin, this hack could bring them back to life.
