Walkers fans are outraged after the company discontinued one of its most popular crisp varieties.
Don’t worry, prawn cocktail and cheese and onion are also safe. However, fans of the legendary beef and onion taste are in shock after learning that their old favourite has vanished into thin air.
‘We know there were a lot of people that loved Beef & Onion, but sometimes, sadly the sales just aren’t there, so we have to make changes to our range’, one Walkers spokesperson said on X, formerly Twitter.
They were responding to a consumer who had observed their absence on the social media network.
As a result, the news was confirmed. RIP.
Needless to say, fans were dissatisfied. This isn’t the first time this has happened: the snack was removed and then reintroduced in 2015, which one Facebook support group aptly called ‘Walkers Beef & Onion Bring Them Back’ ascribed to its campaign.
But this time, it appears the move could be final, with Amazon’s stock label of the product offering a sore reminder that it’s ‘currently unavailable’. ‘We don’t know when or if this item will be back’, the website reads. Sob.
‘Think Walkers crisps are having a laugh! My two favourites beef and onion and Worcester Sauce flavour are being no longer made!’, one disgruntled fan wrote on X.
‘What crisp am I meant to put on my sandwich with corned beef…only Worcester Sauce does in that situation!’
‘You can take Worcester sauce but why BBQ beef teriyaki sensations and beef and onion crisps?’, someone else wrote. ‘Why the beef with beef?’
Another resolved to get the nation’s resident crisp man on board with the decision.
‘How can Gary Lineker stay silent when Walkers have chosen to discontinue not only beef and onion but now Worcester sauce’, they cried.
Others took advantage of the B&O setback to negotiate with the crisp giant.
‘Now that beef and onion are gone, is there room back on the shelf for my beloved barbecue?’, another pleaded.
‘The nation needs them back, this is my personal petition for them to come back with grey packaging.’
