My Celebrity Life

Your Horoscope This Week: 22nd May to 28th May, 2022

It’s officially Gemini season, and the cosmos is definitely interested in a conversation. Of course, with Mercury retrograde shifting into stubborn Taurus on the 22nd, the conversation isn’t necessarily bound to get us anywhere. Sometimes, the best kind of conversations happen slowly, over time, like letters that push your perspective further and further until your point of view is changed utterly. This dispersed, purposeful, energy is echoed by wilful Mars in compassionate Pisces, which makes a sextile to transformative Pluto in deliberate Capricorn on the 22nd. The adage “where there’s a will, there’s a way” feels extraordinarily apt here.

The next day, the Sun in informative Gemini makes a sextile to studious Jupiter in intrepid Aries before reflective Mercury in Taurus makes a sextile to that same Mars in Pisces. The exchanges that move between us have the power to make our worlds larger, to shift the limits of our imaginations and our understandings of each other. On the 24th, Venus in bold Aries makes a sextile to Saturn in open-minded Aquarius and whatever we lack in patience, we make up for in tenacity and a resolute belief that another world isn’t only possible, it’s ours to create together. Mars moves into Aries on the 24th, applying a healthy dose of action and can-do attitude to the scene.

By the time Mercury makes a trine to Pluto on the 25th, we may find that the conversations we began at the beginning of the week have entirely changed course — most likely toward a deeper and more resonant destination. On the 27th, Venus in Aries makes her last bold move, a square to Pluto in Capricorn, before she shifts under the stars of Taurus on the morning of the 28th. Below her, we’re encouraged to embody the most confident versions of ourselves, to push lovingly against mental and physical constructs that were never meant to last this long.

Aries Sun & Aries Rising

It’s obvious that there’s a lot going on in the cosmos and on the ground. But, just because you’re more than capable of matching all the hectic energy around you, doesn’t mean you should. In fact, sometimes, holding back on what you *can* do is the key to figuring out what actually needs getting done. Besides, Mercury retrograde has just entered Taurus territory, and that’s your cue to reassess your resources and figure out how much time and money you’ve got to spare. Echoing these sentiments, Pluto retrograde is in the mix, forming a sextile with Mercury retrograde at the start of the week and a trine by the 25th. All while, Mars shifts out from under the stars of Pisces and toward your auspices on the 24th. Let the other players lay down their cards; the longer you wait, the more sure your hand.

Taurus Sun & Taurus Rising

Mercury’s ingress under the stars of Taurus might throw you as the week begins, but you’re no stranger to a bit of restraint and a well-placed obstacle. In fact, you may even find the foibles that arise entertaining — like a stalled bus in front of the street you’re rushing down, just to teach you that life is inherently unpredictable. It’s important to laugh about it, to be easy on yourself, to recognise your own limitations and how they resonate with the limits of the world at large. While time is in many ways a construct, it has a very real effect on our lives and proves itself to be a limited resource. That said, there are people and places that help us build a different relationship to time, that help us stay present as the hours whir past. If you make special plans this week, let them be plans around people and places like that.

Gemini Sun & Gemini Rising

Your ruling planet, Mercury, might be retrograde but, with the Sun shifting under your stars, your odds are improving. Which is not to say that the odds were bad to begin with! Rather, Mercury’s retrograde beneath your stars offered you time to prepare for the days ahead — whether that took the form of reconnaissance or a literal makeover. Now, with the Sun shining her favour upon you, the world may feel more open and full of possibility. The big picture is starting to form and it’s more detailed than it once was. While it’s good to get back in the swing of things, it’s perfectly valid to still feel tired and crave just a few more weeks of rest. In fact, Mercury’s shift into Taurus might demand it. Besides, rest doesn’t have to be an idle time for you, and restoration comes in many forms. How can you use your alone time to develop your visions of the future?

Cancer Sun & Cancer Rising

This week begins with a third-quarter moon in Pisces, a gentle reminder that softness has a way of wearing through stone. You can feel that something is reaching a natural ending in your life; you’re good at picking up what the cosmos is putting down. Trouble is, what comes to you as a feeling, as gentle as it is powerful, needs your cooperation. Somewhere, alongside feeling, is claircognisance — a knowing that bubbles up while you’re making dinner or between songs on your walk home. In order to trust what you know, you have to trust yourself. That’s easier said than done in some ways. In other ways, you do it all the time. Try to hold the memory of opening your hands and catching a ball. Try to savour the pleasure of adding just the right spice to balance the flavours of a meal. Sometimes, your strength is something that flows through you. You don’t have to summon it; you just have to get out of the way.

Leo Sun & Leo Rising

It may not be time to celebrate your solar return yet, but everyday brings us a little closer to your season. There’s something to be said for the ease that comes when the wheel spins and the Earth dresses herself as she might have when you were born. There’s familiarity in it, there’s a gesture of intimacy. To return the gesture, you can begin to rekindle small intimacies of your own. This is a beautiful time to patch up broken communications and reconnect with people that help you feel part of something bigger than yourself. The gestures you make now need not be grandiose (even if there’s a burning desire within you to make a production of it). They can be as simple as dinner dates and book exchanges. They can be as soul-nourishing as a day of volunteering together, participating in a collective direct action, or going for a swim in a new-to-you body of water. Sometimes, the simplest plans are the ones that prove the most powerful.

Virgo Sun & Virgo Rising

The last-quarter moon in Pisces at the beginning of the week might have you coming to some realisations about your partnerships, about what you need to feel seen and heard — especially when the stakes feel high. What raises the stakes for you is case by case, although finances are generally an imposing factor. It takes a lot to trust that someone else won’t take your contribution for granted; it takes a lot to accept that there’s only so much of the future you can account for. For better or worse, people surprise us all the time, and they surprise themselves too. The more okay you can be about the unpredictable nature of others, the more the dependable each connection will reveal itself to you. Try to fixate less on how you can coax others toward your way of thinking. Try to notice who challenges you in ways that open your world, who invites you to reinvent the wheel or get off it altogether?

Libra Sun & Libra Rising

It’s the last week of Venus’s transit through Aries and, as is to be expected, she’s not leaving before she makes her work. Whether your ruling planet has a bone to pick or a fire to rekindle, in Aries, she’s the kind that won’t give up without a fight. Of course, planets moving through Aries can form a square to your personal Libra placements, making your position in that fight a little more tenuous. And, with Venus forming another square to Pluto in Capricorn on the 27th, what you’re fighting for (and against) can have a big impact on your home life. Perhaps, then, in the days ahead, it may be worthwhile for you to consider the different ways human beings are capable of fighting for something — or someone— they care about. Venus’s sextile to Saturn on the 24th will offer you creative ways to find common ground, but common ground is only the first step. You’ve gotta want it for yourself; it’s got to be ground you build on.

Scorpio Sun & Scorpio Rising

When the world’s gloom piles up, I think about this Barbara Ras poem called “You Can’t Have It All.” Often, I remember it as simply “You can’t have ___but you can have ___” and, to soothe myself, I fill in the blanks. In her poem, Ras works toward abundance at every breath of loss: “And when adulthood fails you, / you can still summon the memory of the black swan on the pond/ of your childhood, the rye bread with peanut butter and bananas/ your grandmother gave you while the rest of the family slept…/ you can’t have it all / but there is this.” When thinking of you this week, Scorpio, I thought of the black swan in the pond. I thought about the impossible grace of that image, the strange burden of a swan’s beauty and weight. This week begins with a sextile between Mars in Pisces and Pluto in Capricorn. You are in the process of making meaning and whatever you give energy to is bound to transform. There is magic in all of it, there’s a spell in place whether you know or not. You can’t have everything, but you’ve got this.

Sagittarius Sun & Sagittarius Rising

Jupiter, in general, is no joke. When Jupiter is in Aries, the only place he’s laughing is straight to the bank. Still working on Pluto in Capricorn, Jupiter in Aries invites you to take yourself and your work seriously. It’s time to be bolder about your passions, to bet on yourself, to invest in what makes you feel alive and change your relationship to wealth. Words like “bank,” “invest,” and “wealth” can be off-putting for many of us, especially those who have grown suspicious of capitalism and the sacrifices it demands of us. It’s important that the meanings of these words expand, that we feel free to reimagine our relationship to resources. What you do to stay sheltered, fed, and safe is one story of many and all those stories are important. All of those stories have value. Your presence, your creativity, your company, your body, and your attention are more precious than your “work ethic.” Don’t squander what you’ve got trying to prove yourself to a world that will never stop demanding proof.

Capricorn Sun & Capricorn Rising

Of course, there’s something delicious about Taurus season, especially a Taurus season punctuated by Venus in passionate Aries. Perhaps these past few weeks have been incredibly generative for you, perhaps you found it surprisingly easy to put your creative work first, to prioritise what brings you pleasure. You may have been surprised to realise that the gains you made far outweighed the losses, at least spiritually. While the Sun shifts into Gemini, moving you back into daily life and all the mundane responsibilities that come with it, Mercury returns to Taurus and makes a trine to Pluto in Capricorn on the 25th. It’s time to reconsider the way you’ve constructed your life so that you can transform your relationship to pleasure. No matter what the world’s machinations proclaim, pleasure need not be earned. Pleasure is your right. What began as exploration, as a tryst with permission, can become status quo — if you want it.

Aquarius Sun & Aquarius Rising

Gemini season can be a small release valve for Aquarius people, like a moody walk on a cloudy spring day punctuated by a bubble machine. It doesn’t take much to remember that underneath mood and all matters of misfortune, there exists the persistence of wonder. Wonder is what keeps you here but wonder doesn’t always come by happenstance. Sometimes you have to call it into your life by moving toward it first, like buying a beautiful birding book or learning how to make beeswax candles from a man with leather suspenders on YouTube. Choosing a direction can be daunting for some, especially when time feels scarce, but you know better than to narrow your passions. Wonder rebukes commitment and contracts; it only wants to bring you into this present moment and stretch it as wide as it can go.

Pisces Sun & Pisces Rising

When the world seems to cascade with one crisis after another, from new COVID variants, to a shortage of baby formula to something called Monkeypox — not to mention all the daily televised war crimes — it can feel like high time to leave the world behind. There’s nothing wrong with that feeling, with the very human instinct to pull the blanket over you and unplug. Goddess knows you’re great at building a world around your solitude that sustains you. But what if solitude isn’t what you’re ultimately after? What if, despite all its fine trappings, solitude is not your home? Mutable, you’re made to grow with others, to build a home that owes its strength to the many hands that worked on it. Of course, you’re entitled to take all the space you need while you figure out how to live in the world as it is now, as you are now. But you can’t retreat forever, not if your heart has any say in the matter.
