Your Horoscope This Week: 26th June to 2nd July, 2022

The end of June is almost upon us and, like Cancerians everywhere, it knows how to bring the drama. We begin the week with a sextile between Mercury in Gemini and Chiron in Aries on the 27th. A helpful aspect, this sextile facilitates difficult conversations born of trauma and invested in building new trust. Perhaps we may see these conversations in regards to current gun laws in the U.S., abortion rights roll back, and anti-trans violence. While these conversations may certainly prove fruitful, they will certainly not be easy.

This sentiment is echoed by the sextile that Mars in Aries makes to Saturn in Aquarius on the same day. It’s a good thing that reflective (and retrograde) Saturn knows how to turn a tense moment into a generative one, especially with Mars in her corner. Neptune in Pisces stations retrograde the next day, ushering in a period of revision, as in going back to the vision board, and also as in perceiving what was not readily perceptible. This work is ongoing and definitely sets the scene for our new moon in Cancer on the 28th, a lunation that isn’t pulling any punches. The new moon (and the Sun) makes a square to Jupiter in Aries, inviting us to recognise when and how our egos get in our own way. Far from a body in search of relief, the new moon is a catalyst that knows insecure people rarely make secure designs. If you have found yourself out to sea, the new moon’s darkness allows you to see the lighthouse beams that will guide you back to safe water and sustaining shores.

The trine that Venus in Gemini makes to Jupiter in Aries deepens this offering, reminding you that experience, in and of itself, is a resource even if success has yet to appear on the horizon. When Mars in Aries makes a tense square to Pluto in Capricorn on 1st July, we are more than ready to take on the old guard and to remind the powers that be of the lifespan of laws — that all things created by humans have an expiration date. The message (and others like it) rings loud and clear as Mercury in Gemini makes a trine to Saturn on the 2nd, the same day they make a square to Neptune. Mind who rushes to catch and reattach the veils moments before they fall away.

Aries Sun & Aries Rising

Mars in Aries makes a sextile to Saturn in Aquarius on the evening of 27th June, reminding you that while accountability to others may seem like a limitation, it can ultimately help you garner support in achieving your personal goals. This reminder may prove timely with the Cancer new moon just around the corner. In general, a Cancer new moon can prove challenging for Aries placements, pushing them to change their approach, especially when it comes to situations closer to home. This challenging aspect is compounded by the square that the Cancer new moon makes to Jupiter in Aries and the fact that Mars in Aries is applying a square to Pluto in Capricorn. If “tension” is the word of the week, then release is the objective and the remedy. And, while it may not feel like the easiest destination right now, your relationships are where this remedy is kept.

Taurus Sun & Taurus Rising

The new moon in Cancer this week spells a magical time ahead of you and, without a doubt, that magical influence has already seeped into your days and will continue to do so for a while. It can be tempting to dig your heels into magical experiences and demand that they also provide you with epiphanies — with meaning you can take to the spiritual bank. It’s true that magic can be a tool for gaining self knowledge, but it’s also just as true that too much information can be a heavy cloud, occluding light and shaping the events of the day. Perhaps it’s better to simply let yourself feel for now, to travel, to collect without distinct purpose. With Venus in Gemini making a sextile to Jupiter in Aries on the same day as the new moon, the universe conspires to remind you that you can fill your cup without having to know when or why you drink.

Gemini Sun & Gemini Rising

The Sun may be in Cancer’s court, but with both your ruling planet, Mercury, and Venus under your sign, the odds may very well be in your favour. The week begins with a flowing aspect between Mercury in Gemini and Chiron in Aries, helping you facilitate important conversations that are informed by difficult past experiences. On the 28th, the same day as the new moon in Cancer, Venus in Gemini aspects Jupiter in Aries similarly. This is a good time to protect your energy by prioritising those who help you feel seen and valued. By closing certain doors and intentionally opening others, you begin the beautiful work of weaving a web of like-hearted and like-minded folk who tether you securely to the world you want.

Cancer Sun & Cancer Rising

Of course the moon has a particularly powerful sway on you. How could she not? Not only does she preside over the sign of Cancer, but she also affects the mood of the moment, and you are a human mood ring — a mood operator. When you factor in the fact that June 28th’s new moon is a new moon in Cancer, you might find the sum of her influence to be astronomical. But what kind of influence is it exactly? Of note is the new moon’s square to Jupiter in Aries and the trine that Vesta applies, a combo platter that may have you feeling ambitious, limited, generous, and depleted in turns. Here is the crux of the crescent at play: The small stuff is where the power lies. Acting with gentleness towards your life helps renew your faith in yourself and, occasionally, going home is a lot more generative than going big.

Leo Sun & Leo Rising

It’s true that feelings aren’t facts, but they sure do seem like facts under the right kind (or wrong kind) of scrutiny. For better or worse, they influence you, have you making strong choices based on powerful assumptions, keep you hooked to something against all practical advice. And they sure can put you in a mood that wrecks a perfectly good day or even a perfectly good week. This week’s cosmic weather is sure to blow in a feelings storm or three and whether those feelings are positive or negative, they’re bound to be intense. Of course, a lion like yourself can handle a great deal of intensity, but it’s wise to remember that even the king of the jungle knows that some places are beyond his borders. Just because a feeling is strong doesn’t mean it gets to bully you toward difficult territory. You can acknowledge its power without accepting its premise.

Virgo Sun & Virgo Rising

This week begins with a sextile between Mercury in Gemini and Chiron in Aries. In Gemini, your ruling planet is astute and calculating, adding up the facts in an effort to make her case. With Chiron, the wounded healer, in the mix — in the impetuous sign of Aries no less — triggering information has a way of coming to the surface. The sign of service, of inventory, you know that sometimes the origin of a thing isn’t as important as its application. You know that while something may be difficult to hear or say, it doesn’t have to lead to further difficulties. In fact, often, the opposite is true: The hardest conversations can be the most healing. This work precedes the new moon in Cancer on the 28th and the trine between Mercury and Saturn on 2nd July, and it reminds you that there’s always time for the building of new dreams.

Libra Sun & Libra Rising

Libra people are well known for keeping it fair or trying to, at least. There’s a mythos about their quest for balance, an association that’s mostly emblematic (the scales). While there may be some truth to the matter, it’s worth noting that, yes, Libra loves a righteous quest for equality, but they love keeping the peace even more. And why shouldn’t a Libra love doing something they’re good at? Why shouldn’t a Libra apply their natural talent for keeping their cool when the world is letting off steam? Doesn’t everyone stand to benefit? In many ways, yes! In a world that rewards hotheads and pressure-cooker environments, a cool temperament is often necessary to cut the tension with a delicate knife. But just because you’re good at something, just because the heat is on, doesn’t mean it’s your job to regulate the temperature. Not when it means denying your own feelings on the matter, not when it means denying you have feelings at all.

Scorpio Sun & Scorpio Rising

From the outside, things may seem quiet on the Scorpio front, and one might wonder, Who am I to complain? Who am I to upset the delicate absence that my diligent labours have wrought? Who am I to break away from a path others pray to walk on? These kinds of ruminations are proof that quiet is one thing and peace another, that the pause between eclipses is a pregnant pause. And if ruminations of this nature find you, they may tempt you toward a hunt for answers, for signs and signals that whatever decision you make is the right one. You may go on as many hunts as you like (especially with Mars in Aries), but they’re not necessary. It’s the first part of the question that matters: Who am I? you ask. Are you ready to find out? the universe replies.

Sagittarius Sun & Sagittarius Rising

Jupiter’s tenure in Aries gets a lot of hype, which only makes sense when the planet of expansion travels through a bold sign like Aries. Co-present with the likes of Mars and the asteroid Eris, the hype is very real and very hot. While many Jupiter-ruled people like yourself have experienced the heat radiating off this transit —  heat that got your creative juices flowing and seeds bursting — others might be feeling defeated. This disparity is confounding until you factor in that Jupiter is a planet that never does anything he doesn’t want to do, and Aries is a sign that’s just as resistant to instruction. At best, these are the ingredients of a creative genius. At worst, they are the source of creative blocks and stagnation. My mother used to always say “через не хочу” or “through I don’t want to.” To do what you dream of doing, you gotta do a lot of things you don’t.

Capricorn Sun & Capricorn Rising

There’s more that lies ahead than can be easily digested: the new moon’s demands, Saturn’s diligent efforts, and the part that Pluto plays. So, rather than lay it all out on the table, I’d like to  remind you that a cardinal plate is rarely ever anything but full. When it comes to Capricorns, the plate isn’t just full, it breaks with the weight. But show me the Capricorn who has not learned to attend to their plate accordingly, to pitch their own body in response to what they carry. The new moon in Cancer recognises the weight you carry on your own, she pushes you to be vulnerable, to ask directly for camaraderie and support. She knows that doing so threatens the fortress of self-sufficiency you’ve built around yourself. That fortress no longer works in your favour. It limits you. But, when you join forces with those who seek to join you, your strengths multiply.

Aquarius Sun & Aquarius Rising

With Saturn’s retrograde transit well underway in your sign, you may be feeling indifference where once you felt determination. While these kinds of feelings can invoke self judgment, getting down on yourself because of energy you can’t seem to muster won’t change the situation. In fact, it may make it worse. Try to remember that, just like the planets, we Earthlings are subject to our own personal orbits and rotations. Saturn’s retrograde transit occurs yearly and just because she appears to move backward doesn’t mean she does. On 2nd July, Mercury in Gemini makes a trine to Saturn, offering you powerful creative insight. Sometimes, taking a step back is an essential part of the building process. And even if nothing comes of it, you don’t need to produce something or become someone new to earn your place in the universe.

Pisces Sun & Pisces Rising

On 28th June, Neptune in Pisces joins the ranks of Saturn and Pluto by stationing retrograde. To prepare for the transit, it may be worth your while to get more intentional about your intuition and insight. This can mean renewing a day journal or dream practice or simply taking care to note intuitive moments and how you respond to them. Parallel to this practice is a protective one, the work of minding who you share your dreams and insights with and cultivating restraint in the face of intimacy — or in the absence of it. Intentional practices like this serve to prepare you for 2nd July, when the god of communication and messages, Mercury, makes a square to Neptune, the planet of insights and illusions. Some things are secret because they are sacred, because powerful magic needs a powerful beholder.
