Seeing as she’s not achieved enough just yet, Cardi B has landed her first starring role in a film.
The WAP rapper played a supporting role in 2019 film Hustlers, but now we’ll see her leading the screen in comedy Assisted Living.
Paramount, the studio behind the project, has said Cardi will play a small-time crook who is forced to disguise herself as an elderly nursing home resident after a heist goes wrong.
The Grammy-winner responded to her latest role, musing: ‘Work & life is about to become 10x harder but I’m overwhelmed with happiness. When you have opportunities in your hands TAKE THEM ALL!’
That is a sentiment we can get behind, and we’re sure the mother-of-one will ace this latest project just like all the others she’s taken on.
Paramount said of the casting: ‘We’re excited @IAmCardiB’s first lead movie role is WAP = Working At Paramount!’
Ohhhhh, (W)orking (A)t (P)aramount. We see what you did there…
Her lead role in Assisted Living marks another career high point for the 28-year-old Bronx-born star, who’s gone from strength to strength after she first found fame in 2015 on reality TV show Love & Hip Hop: New York.
Her debut album, Invasion Of Privacy, arrived in April 2018 and proved to be a massive critical and commercial success.
It spawned the singles Bodak Yellow, I Like It and Be Careful, as well as winning Cardi – who shares two-year-old daughter Kulture, with Migos rapper Offset – the Grammy for rap album of the year.
Recently Cardi shared a five-year-old tweet in which she made clear her career hopes.
Showing us just how far she had come, this week Cardi posted a tweet she’d dug up from 2016, writing: ‘IDK where my music going to take me ,I just want people to say she puts out good tracks ..Respect the talent.’
Alongside the message, she wrote on Monday: ‘WOW 2016…..Claim it !!!’
Think it’s fair to say many, many people would say she puts out good tracks. Would WAP have taken over 2020 if she didn’t?
