Amazon Prime has released a new romantic musical, based on the classic, Cinderella.

Directed by Pitch Perfect’s Kay Cannon and produced by James Corden through Fulwell 73, Cinderella is a ‘modern musical’ and a ‘bold take on the classic fairytale.’

The movie follows ambitious Cinderella and her ‘Fab Godmother’ as she attempts to fulfil her dreams.

This refreshing take on the timeless class we all know rewrites the narrative, focussing on Cinderella’s career goal of opening her own shop to sell her dresses, instead of chasing romance.

The film has an all-star cast and original songs, amongst which are also a mix of hits from Madonna, Ed Sheeran and Janet Jackson.

Who is in the cast of Cinderella?

A whole host of famous faces appear in the movie-musical.

Taking on the titular role in her acting debut is musician Camila Cabello, who admitted to being ‘excited and scared at the same time’ to fill the glass slippers when the opportunity came along to fill during the recording of her second album, Romance.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the Havana hitmaker, 24, said: ‘Just reading the script and the values that this film represents and everything about it, I was kind of like I can’t let this pass me by because it’s such a dream role for me.’

Starring as stepmother Vivian is musical veteran Idina Menzel, who has plenty of experience under her belt with projects like Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway and Elsa in Disney’s Frozen.

The original Wizard of Oz villain, 50, brought empathy to the traditionally ‘evil’ character, who encourages Cinderella to aspire to more than marriage.

The star said she wanted to ‘shed light on the complexities of her character and her soul and who she is.’

Fab G – which stands for The Fabulous Godmother – is Tony-Award-winner Billy Porter.

Billy, 51, is best known for his roles in Pose and Kinky Boots the Musical, and in Cinderella he helps Ella prepare for the ball, bringing her a dress, glass slippers and magical powers to turn the mice into footmen and a crate into a carriage.

As Billy himself said, ‘magic has no gender.’

And the big names don’t stop there, as Pierce Brosnan portrays King Rowan.

The former James Bond, 68, takes on another musical role following his much-loved part in Mamma Mia!

Elsewhere, Minnie Driver plays Queen Beatrice, Nicholas Galitzine stars as handsome Prince Robert, and Maddie Baillio and Charlotte Spencer play the Stepsisters.

Also making appearances are British comedians James Acaster, James Corden and Romesh Ranganathan, who play mice turned into footmen.

But that’s not all, as other stars pop up throughout the movie, including Beverley Knight, Rob Beckett and Tallulah Greive.
