It may only be October but if there’s anything that’s going to get you feeling festive, it’s a Christmas movie starring none other than Dolly Parton.
The Jolene singer, 74, is the angel sent to save a town from eviction by showing a modern-day Scrooge property developer the error of her ways in Christmas On The Square, coming to Netflix next month.
Regina Fuller – played by Christine Baranski – is set to ruin Christmas for the residents of Fullerville by evicting them and their dogs from their homes right in the middle of the holidays.
‘The deadline to be out of your homes is now Christmas Eve,’ Regina is seen telling the shellshocked residents of the town, as she plans to demolish their neighbourhood.
However, she is shocked when Dolly pops up, dressed in white and sparkles, to help her to find ‘the part of [her she’s] lost, the part that can be happy’,
As well as seeing good triumph over evil in the vein of all classic Christmas film, Christmas On The Square also promises an epic soundtrack thanks to 14 brand new songs created by Dolly herself.
The all-singing, all-dancing flick is directed by famed choreographer Debbie Allen, and the visuals are guaranteed to bring some festive joy to even the biggest Scrooges.
Sharing the trailer, Netflix tweeted: ‘Dolly’s #ChristmasMusic will put a song in your heart and bring the whole family together for the holidays.
‘So curl up with this miracle of a musical starring Dolly Parton, Christine Baranski, Treat Williams, Jeanine Mason, Josh Segarra, Mary Lane Haskell, and many more talented folks. ‘Tis the season for song and dance!’
It might be a while before we all start bringing the Christmas trees out and dusting off the baubles, but nothing will have you more in the mood to crack out the mince pies early than Dolly Parton being a singing angel, here to save Christmas.
Christmas in the Square arrives on Netflix on November 22.
