If you weren’t lucky enough to see the musical on London’s West End, you’ll soon be able to join in the chatter because Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is coming to the cinemas.

The musical, which opened in 2017, has proven to be a huge hit on the West End, and the movie looks set to capture the same feeling of joy, hope and standing out from the crowd.

The trailer dropped earlier today, October 11, but when is the film due for release in the UK, and who is in the cast?

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie the movie: when is it out?

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is scheduled to be released on February 26, 2021.

The film is a feature film adaptation of the musical, featuring the original songs from the show written by The Feeling’s Dan Gillespie Sells.

It was previously scheduled to be released on October 23, 2020 but was postponed due to the Covid pandemic.

What is Everybody’s Talking About Jamie about?

Based on the musical, the film will tell the story of Jamie New, a young lad from Sheffield who dreams of becoming a drag queen.

To overcome persecution from some of his schoolmates – and an unsupportive father – Jamie gets support from his best friend, Pritti, and a local drag queen who helps his makeover.

The original music itself was inspired by another story – the true-life story of Jamie Campbell.

Campbell was banned from attending his secondary school prom in drag, which led to a BBC documentary about the incident called Jamie: Drag Queen at 16.

Who’s in the Everybody’s Talking About Jamie movie?

The film will star Max Harwood as Jamie New, and Lauren Patel as Jamie’s best friend Pritti. Both actors are making their film debuts.
