The actor played Le Chiffre in 2006’s Casino Royale opposite Daniel Craig in his first outing as 007.
Mads told Daily Mail that it would be nice for everything to come full circle with what will be Daniel’s last time playing the British spy.
He would not be the first actor to play two different roles in the Bond films as Maud Adams starred in both The Man With The Golden Gun and Octopussy.
‘Of course, I would love to go back. I would have liked to have gone back with Daniel Craig,’ the Hannibal star said when asked whether he’d consider having two roles in the franchise.
‘It was wonderful to start out with him in Casino Royale, and it would have been fun to wrap it up with his last Bond. I’ll have to talk him into doing another one.’
It was bumped back from its original release date of April 2 until October 8, 2021.
Before then it was pushed back from April 2020 to November as the coronavirus pandemic hampered the film industry last year.
The film stars Rami Malek as Bond villain Safin as well as Lashana Lynch, Ralph Fiennes and Ana De Armas.
Speculation is still rife about who could take over the role of James Bond when Daniel steps down.
James Norton and Tom Hardy are currently among the favourites while fans have called for the likes of Idris Elba, Dev Patel and Henry Golding to star.
