Vin Diesel’s Fast and Furious 9 will be screeching into cinemas with a brand new release date.

The next instalment in the bankable blockbuster is directed by Justin Lin, the director of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth movies in the franchise.

As ever it will take Dom Toretto (Diesel), partner Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and their family of petrol heads around the world with location as far flung as Tokyo and London.

The official synopsis from Universal reads: ‘Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon.

‘This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena).’

Fans can expect more thrills, spills and supercars as ‘the true meaning of family is be tested like never before.’

What is the Fast and Furious 9 UK release date?

F&F 9 will now come out on June 24, two weeks before its original release date of July 8.

Why was the release date moved?

According to Deadline the shift is so it lines up with its release in the US, which will be a day later on June 25.

Universal is said to be rolling it out in line with local Covid-19 guidelines in territories around the world.
