Bring It On fans might need to dust off their pom-poms because it looks like a sequel is coming our way.
Yep, Gabrielle Union has confirmed that a follow-up focused on the original cast is in the works and we cannot contain our excitement.
Chatting to James Corden recently on The Late Late Show, the 47-year-old explained that Netflix’s Cheer was a slight catalyst for the reunion.
She stated: ‘It’s absolutely going to happen, I think because we all got obsessed with Cheer on Netflix.
‘And it kind of brought back the whole love of cheerleading. And we kind of want to see where these people would be 20 years later.’
The original film became an instant hit and helped to further launch the careers of stars such as Gabrielle, Kirsten Dunst and Eliza Dushku.
Five direct-to-video sequels were released between 2004 and 2017 but none of the original cast members were ever involved.
The news came after Gabrielle reunited with co-star Kirsten, the film’s director Peyton Reed and screenwriter Jessica Bendinger to mark the Bring It On’s 20th anniversary last month.
The chat saw both Gabrielle and Kirsten discuss ideas for a potential sequel as the former America’s Got Talent judge admitted: ‘The impact, 20 years later, that this movie had and continues to have, that’s awesome.
‘So whatever that we may one day come up with, I mean, Kirsten, maybe we’re like co-heads of the PTA. I don’t know.’
Kirsten then suggested: ‘Or we run a cheer school like Cheer’.
