Austin Powers, the beloved franchise from the late 1990s and early 2000s, may be getting a revival, according to cryptic hints from Mike Myers.
The film series has been around for more than 20 years, but it is still as popular as it was when the first installment, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, came out in 1997.
The much-quoted film franchise was last released in 2002, with Austin Powers in Goldmember, but the quotes have become ingrained in popular culture.
‘Groovy baby’ and Fat Bastard’s ‘Get in my Belly’ are just a few of the ‘shagadelic’ quotes being thrown around by fans still to this day.

Well, fans may be in luck!
Mike Myers, who played the lovable but womanising spy with big glasses and questionable teeth, hinted at a sequel during his appearance at the 49th AFI Lifetime Achievement Award gala.
Mike, 60, was unrecognisable during this rare appearance, where he flaunted his new cropped grey hairstyle and spoke cryptically about one of his most successful film series.
‘I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or non-existence of such a project,’ he told ET when asked about the series.
When asked if there were more stories to be told in the Austin Powers universe, the Spy Who Shagged Me star replied, ‘absolutely’.
Before the pandemic, the film’s director, Jay Roach, hinted at the possibility of an Austin Powers 4.
Roach previously told US TV interviewing legend Larry King: ‘You know, [Mike Myers and I] talk about it [a fourth film] every time we get together.’
‘I would say it’s in a latent phase right now but someday if we find the right idea that seems to have it earn itself, for sure.
‘Mike gave me the break of a lifetime in letting me direct so I’m always good to go.’
In 2019, Mike also told ET the same non-committal comment, saying: ‘I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or nonexistence of such a program should they exist or not exist.’
But then added: ‘It’s likely to be from Dr. Evil’s point of view. But again I can neither confirm nor deny such existence. That’s all I’m going to say.’
The franchise has evolved into a cult classic over time, with the comedy becoming far more than the spy parody it began as.
All three films were huge commercial successes, with total worldwide revenue exceeding six and a half hundred million – $676,356,278 to be exact – at the box office, so it’s fair to say there may be a strong desire for Austin Powers and Dr Evil to return for a fourth installment.
