Bond. James Bond. It’s the role of a lifetime for many actors, the very definition of an iconic role that has cemented the legacy of the likes of Sir Roger Moore and Sean Connery – who was voted the best ever Bond.
007 has been portrayed by (00)7 actors in total so far – with Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig having assumed the role.
Is Tom Hardy the new Bond?
Rumours broke out late on Friday September 18 that Peaky Blinders actor Tom Hardy had been confirmed to be given the new licence to kill.
Though no official word has been given yet, The Vulcan Reporter seemingly scooped the news which has been widely reported by several outlets.
It wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if the British actor has bagged the role.
Hardy, 43, has plenty of experience with high-octane, action-packed movies having starred in Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015.
He has also been one of the bookies’ favourites to snag the coveted role for some time, and leading bookmaker Coral has suspended betting on the next James Bond actor following the recent rumours.
Who else could be the new James Bond?
However, with no official statement, nothing is set in stone.
Before betting was suspended, Coral had a line-up of other sleek and stylish actors who could feasibly become 007.
These include Happy Valley actor James Norton at 6-4 and Game of Thrones star Richard Madden at 6-1.
Odds on next James Bond actor
