After the original release date of the highly anticipated movie was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, fans of the hugely popular spy franchise are counting down the days until the movie’s new release date: 12 November in the UK and 20 November in the US.
Ahead of the film’s release, here’s who you can expect to see in No Time To Die and what we know so far about their characters…
Daniel Craig – James Bond
An actor and a character that need no introduction, Daniel Craig returns for the fifth and final time as James Bond in No Time To Die.
In this latest movie, we known that Bond has left active service and is enjoying a slightly more peaceful life with the woman he loves.
However, his retirement is short lived (isn’t it always?) as he’s drawn back to doing what he does best when a mysterious new villain armed with dangerous new technology poses a threat.
Léa Seydoux – Madeleine Swann
James Bond’s love interests rarely last more than one movie, with character Sylvia Trench being 007’s last girlfriend to appear in multiple films back in the 60s.
So Léa’s return as Madeline Swann marks a significant new storyline for the previously elusive, womanizing spy.
In No Time To Die, we know that Bond and Madeleine are trying to enjoy a loved-up, peaceful life together but their plans are shattered by a new villain and a dark secret that Madeline has been hiding all this time.
In the most recent trailer for No Time To Die, we see a battered looking Bond returning home to a very shocked Madeleine before he declares: ‘The past isn’t dead’.
Lashana Lynch – Nomi
Actress Lashana Lynch plays Nomi in No Time To Die, a ’00’ agent who entered active service some time after Bond’s retirement.
We don’t know much about Nomi at this stage, other than she’s clearly kick-ass and can more than give Bond a run for his money as he says after meeting her in trailer ‘She’s a disarming young woman!’
Although Lashana’s role has been kept under wraps, sources close to the production have claimed that Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s rewrite of the script will see the 31-year-old star be ‘introduced to audiences as 007’ in the new film – so watch this space.
Ana De Armas – Paloma
Blade Runner and Knives Out star Ana De Armas appears as the latest ‘Bond Girl’ Paloma in No Time To Die.
Introduced by Bond’s old friend Felix, we know little about Paloma at this stage other than she’s an American intelligence operative employed by the CIA.
She certainly looks like she can handle herself if the action shots in the trailer are anything to go by, but as Felix says ‘it’s hard to tell the good from bad, villains from heroes these days’ – could Paloma turn out to be trouble for Bond?
Rami Malek – Safin
Fresh from his Oscar-winning performance as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malek took on the role as all round bad guy Safin in No Time To Die.
We know that as well as being generally evil and up to no good, Safin is also somehow linked to Madeline Swann’s past and is out for revenge against Bond’s girlfriend.
Jeffrey Wright – Felix Leiter
We haven’t seen Jeffrey Wright in a Bond film since 2008, but the Shaft and Hunger Games actor returns for his third 007 film this year in No Time To Die.
The last time we saw Wright’s character Felix Leiter was in Quantum of Solace, after he first appeared in Casino Royale. An old CIA friend of Bond’s, Felix will track 007 down in Jamica and ask for his help to rescue a kidnapped scientist.
Ralph Fiennes – M
After taking over the role of M from Judi Dench in Spectre, Ralph Fiennes returns as Bond’s long-suffering and increasingly less patient boss in No Time To Die.
It looks like the head of MI6 will continue to have his nerves tested by his most unpredictable employee in the latest film, as we see M sitting nervously in the trailer whilst saying: ‘Come on Bond, where the hell are you.’
Christoph Waltz – Ernst Stavro Blofeld
No one plays a villain like Christoph Waltz and the German-Austrian actor is back to play Ernst Stavro Blofeld once again in No Time To Die.
In Spectre, Blofeld had his helicopter shot down as he tried to escape at the end of the film, with Bond choosing to let the long-standing villain be arrested by M instead of shooting him.
We see Bond visit Blofeld in a maximum security prison – presumably where he has been kept since his arrest by M – in the No Time To Die trailer with the spy’s old nemesis telling James ‘fate draws us back together, and now your enemy is my enemy.’
Could No Time To Die see one of the original James Bond villains actually turn into a 007 ally?
Naomie Harris – Eve Moneypenny
Moneypenny is one of the quintessential Bond characters and the former agent turned MI6 secretary has been played by British actress Naomie Harris since 2012’s Skyfall.
In No Time To Die Moneypenny is back with the MI6 team and Bond, telling new agent Nomi in the trailer that everyone has tried to shoot 007 ‘at least once.’
Ben Wishaw – Q
Having first taken on the role of Q in 2012 for Skyfall, Wishaw returns for his third stint as the super smart inventor No Time To Die.
Q is responsible for all of 007’s coolest gadgets and will likely be the brains behind a number of the weapons and gizmos that get Bond out of trouble again in the latest film.
